Make the Most of those Bits and Create Your Own Embellies…

HI, hi! Ashli here with you today to share a fun little tip. I LOVE using every little bit of paper, especially when they are as lovely as the ones included with the January Pajama Time kit!

Let’s get started!

First up, I have my selected photo, along with one of the exclusive DITL cards. Unfortunately, the DITL kit is sold out for January. Make sure you subscribe so that you don’t miss it next month!

Notice, I haven’t even gathered my papers yet. Don’t worry, that will happen next. But, my inspiration is in the form of this photo and card:

What inspiration exactly is coming from the card? Well, for one it is beyond cute… but also that star!

Here I have pulled some of my scraps from the kit that work with this photo:

And now, I simply cut some strips:

And adhered them to a scrap piece of cardstock:

Once you have a decent area of cardstock covered, just turn it over and sketch out your chosen shape. In this instance, it’s the star!

Then, using scissors, cut them out. It’s that easy! Now, of course, you could use a die cut machine, or a strong punch. But, I like the wonkiness of hand cut items. Plus, I wanted to show you something that wouldn’t require a special tool.

Aren’t they fun?!?!

As you can imagine, the possibilities are endless and it is so very easy to create customized page accents this way. Oh, and just think of how great this trick is when you are scrapping away from home. No special tools required!

That makes me smile, indeed!

Notice how a put a couple of them up on pop dots? That’s another great way to add dimension to these!

To finish things off, I added some more strips of the scraps around the edge of the page to tie everything together.

And there we have it!

I hope this has inspired you to try something new with your scraps and to make the most out of your kit!

If you decided to try your hand at this, please do share it with us in the gallery!

See you soon!

Gorgeous layout!! I love this idea, especially because it’s quick and I don’t have to get out any special die cut machine, just my handy pair of scissors!
