In the Northern Hemisphere the air is cooler and the tree’s leaves are beginning to shed their summer green. Autumn is arriving and our DT is sharing their fall greetings with us today. Grab a nice warm drink and enjoy our first look at this colorful and cozy season. Let’s begin with Evy’s multi-photo layout in her Simple Dori traveler’s notebook using some bits from Solstice.
“Autumn is my favorite season. I love its colors, the red leaves, the pumpkins but above all… going to pick mushrooms! Here at the moment it is still hot but I managed to hike in the mountains and I found (and photographed) many mushrooms. I couldn’t choose just one photo so I chose to make a collage with pics of different formats.”
“I glued 2 identical patterned paper and made the collage with the photos. I chose to insert a photo of the landscape in the center and use it as a “base” for my title using only 2 diecuts.”
“This time I let only the photos speak and nothing else.” Evy’s photo collage is awesome!
Next we have this adorable layout from Traci using the Flannel and Frost kits. “I love Fall so much, I say fake it ’til you make it! Who cares if these photos were taken in the middle of august and 100% photoshopped? I had fun with this giant leaf I found on a walk with my husband, and I just love the fact that EVEN THOUGH I told the truth (that the leaf was photoshopped with fall colors) in my facebook post, my husband took the time to call me out on it.”
“So my problem was, how do I effectively tell the story of the sneaky “fall” leaf, complete with the surprise twist at the end? Why, I create a vellum pocket to stick my secret in, of course!”
“Since there was so much going on at the top right of my spread, I kept the rest of it simple by creating a cute leafy “wind swirl” with the sequins, small leaf stickers and chipboard throughout the rest of the page.” Super cute Traci and I love your photoshopped leaf. Traci also has a process video you can view here.
Melina used Flannel and Frost to create a gratitude list in her journal. “Fall is my absolute favorite season. Well, who am I kidding? The last quarter of the year is my most favorite ever! I love trying to document every single thing in the last three months of the year. So for starters I have made my daily gratitude spread for October. Each day in October I will add a sentence or “one liner” about that day, something I’m grateful for.”
“I used one of the cards from the Pocket Memory Keeping kit as a tip in. Add washi to both sides and you’ve got yourself a cute little addition to any spread. My numbers for each day came from the Memory Keeping Sticker Kit.”
“I looked through die cuts from multiple kits to find just the right expression for the front of the 3×4 card.”
“I also made myself a note using the notepad in the Main Planner kit as a reminder of our favorite things to get accomplished for the month! Add some of those adorable epoxy dots and some doodles with a glitter pen and this spread is prepped for journaling! Hello autumn! I’m ready for ya!” Noting the things that fill us with gratitude can make the tough times better and so we are loving Melina’s gratitude list idea!
Odessa created her fall greeting with the Solstice kits. “When I think of fall, I think back to school. And when I think back to school I think of early mornings taking my kids to the bus stop with fuzzy boots and coffee and acorns and leaves everywhere. So I made a traveler’s notebook page about it.”
“The starry vellum from the Solstice Traveler’s Notebook Kit is so pretty, I had to use it! I put a photo on it layered over a card from the Pocket Memory Keeping Card with a nice spot to add the date and location. I put a cute striped paper to peek through under it. On the other side I used the washi tape that coordinates with the paper along the edge and then a jumble of word strips, alpha stickers and stamping about the morning.”
“I layered my photo over a very failed blank instant camera shot. I like to keep them for just this reason. I simply cut my photo down to size and adhere it onto the photo. Then I added a word strip to give it a title.”
“I had so much fun on the left side of the page, mixing and matching different ways to add words to my page. I even used some of the stamps to emphasize words with little starry trails and exciting lines. I’m not huge into journaling on my pages but I love trying to find just the right phrase stickers and alphas to spell things out. It’s so fun!” We love Odessa’s color palette and all the wonderful details she added to her layout. It’s a beautiful example of coloring outside the lines and totally charming us with the unexpected.
We’d love to see your memory keeping and planner designs with our kits in our private facebook group. If you prefer to share on social media, please tag @cocoa_daisy so that we are sure to see what you are creating.
