Hello Everyone! Alissa here with another Product Focus post using a product in the new kit to be revealed tonight, Grey Street.
Three 4×6 transparent overlays from the Studio Calico Wanderlust collection will be included in the main kit, Grey Street. I just love transparencies! They are so cool and can be used in so many ways. I’ve used mine in 3 different ways this month and I’d love to share with you what I did. I really wish I had more! 🙂
Layer them over patterned paper to add another texture to the pattern.
Here I layered the transparent sheet over one of the exclusive papers in the kit in a pocket for my title card on my Project Life spread. I love the extra pattern over the paper. It just adds so much depth to this card.
Use the transparent card in a pocket page as a clear element.
For this card, I wanted to be able to see through the page to the next week and the transparent card did just the trick. On this particular card, there is enough going on that it won’t be distracting on the back side. I can add a photo or lettering or ephemera to the other side, if I want, and it will still keep the light, airy feel of a clear element in my book.
Again, it adds a layer of texture and pattern that the paper alone just cannot give. It’s also a little stronger than paper and provides a more sturdy cover for a mini book. Just cut your paper pages to 4×6, punch holes in the transparency and the papers with a sturdy punch. I use a WR Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile Power Punch with 0.25″ single hole. I love it! It will punch through anything! Especially the plastic overlay transparencies and several layers of paper at the same time.
To recap, 3 simple ways to use the transparent overlays in the Grey Street kit for March.
- Layer them over paper to add texture and pattern.
- Use them as a clear card/element in Project Life
- Use them as a mini album cover for a cool layered effect on your cover.
I can’t wait to see what you all do with your transparent overlays when you get your kits!
And, don’t forget, reveal is tonight at 9pm EST!
See you there!
