Off the Page Embellishments

Hello, friends!

We love dimensional embellishments, don’t you? Whether it’s chipboard pieces, enamel dots, layers of paper, puffy alpha stickers, you can always count on these elements to add extra interest to your planner setups or memory-keeping spreads. Let’s see how the Creative Team incorporates some “off the page” fun with the Cactus Moon Collection.

We love how Laurie adds all the texture to her planner setup.

“In this photo, I used one of the pocket cards from the Cactus Moon Planner Add-On Kit and I added layers by making some flags using the papers from the Cactus Moon Modern Memory Keeping Kit and finishing it off with a die-cut from the same kit For even more interest, I tucked one of the ribbon paper clips, also from the Cactus Moon Modern Memory Keeping Kit, behind the whole cluster and then attached it to one of my dashboards

On this pocket page, I backed the pocket using coordinating papers and die-cut the scalloped edge. I decorated the front with stickers and diecuts from the Cactus Moon Modern Memory Keeping Kit.

This pocket was decorated using diecuts from the Cactus Moon Modern Memory Keeping Kit and also the Cactus Moon Planner Printables. I like to add interest by mounting solid cardstock underneath. The tag was made in a similar manner; in this case, I also added stickers and a sticky note from the Cactus Moon Modern Memory Keeping Kit.

This dashboard was made using a multiple banner flag die using card stock from my stash and papers from the Modern Memory Keeping Kit. I embellished the top flag with a sticker from the Cactus Moon Planner Kit. I tied it together with twine and attached it to my dashboard. On the side I used the fun glittered border stickers.”

We can always count on Natasha to create with details that (literally) pop!

“I love adding dimension to my page- no matter what type of memory-keeping project I am working on. For this project, I actually scrap lifted a layout I completed last March but instead of creating a background using rub-on alphas, I used the puffy alphas from the Cactus Moon Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping Kit to build a unique and interesting background to my layout.
The alphas don’t spell anything in particular, they just are adding interest! I recommend orientating the alphas in different ways- this focuses more on the movement and shape of the letters versus the illusion that you are trying to spell something out. But hey, if that’s the look you’re going for then, by all means, sort them out the way that looks best to you and spell out those hidden titles!
To add more depth and interest to this layout, I layered in some chipboard and some ephemera die cuts from the Cactus Moon Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping Kit that I adhered directly onto the page and onto the alpha background, adding more depth and dimension to my page by creating layers.
I am so pleased with how this came out. I know it can feel a bit funny to use alphas outside of titles, but it’s definitely worth giving a shot especially when you’re left with lots of random letters at the end of the month.”
Dimensional embellishments can work in journals, too, as Audrey shows us here.
“Happy March Daisies! I am happily moving along in my health and wellness journal for the year and the Cactus Moon Collection is just stunning to document my progress. For this spread, which tracks my March weight loss I decided to go with some fun dimensional pieces from the collection to add some spin to success.
I started this layout with the two toned piece of paper found in the Cactus Moon Modern Memory Keeping Kit. I just love the “dimension” that this 2D piece of paper adds to my layout. And, the colors are just fresh and fun.
I then added a journal card from the modern Modern Memory Keeping Kit that has a perfect sentiment to celebrate (hopefully) my weight loss success. I backed it with another patterned journal card from the same kit. This again adds dimension to my layout. I also added some label stickers from the Cactus Moon Memory Keeping Sticker Kit to journal my weight loss success.
I finished this piece by adding 3D dimension using some of the puffy sentiment stickers and chipboard from the kits. The contrast of the black against the pastel colors really makes this page “pop.” How do you use dimension in your layouts? I can’t wait to see.”
