Jumping into June’s Sketch Challenge / Video Link

Hiya Daisies! Suzanna here today to share with you this month’s sketch challenge and all of the amazing samples from the design team members who played along! The “Under the Sea” kits are a mix of soft pastels in the Pink Paislee goodies with a splash of brighter, vibrant tones in the Vicki Boutin goodies and Bella Blvd. You are sure to want to plan a visit to the sea side or lake! Or, as I’ve done here, use them for land based fun as well!

This sketch has a mermaids cache of possibilities; one, two or three photos! Patterned paper for a background or a digital cut file instead of the larger, rectangular piece! I am a sucker for sketches and am always amazed at how the same sketch can be the spring board for such different results!

Kelly’s daughter’s swim suit matched the colors in one of the two Cocoa Daisy exclusive patterned papers PERFECTLY, don’t you think? She used one of the subscriber exclusive digital cut files to accompany the ocean theme of her layout. You don’t always have to use every element in a sketch, as Kelly did, just those that work for the composition of your layout.

Lis and her signature yellow are up next! Like Kelly, Lisa too decided to forego the long vertical strip thus pushing her large background piece flush with the right hand edge of the page. The blue polka dots and that yellow provide such fun contrast. I spy some hand stitching as well!

Katherine used three pictures and took a more rectangular shaped “body” of the layout down to a square. While the theme of the kit embodies mermaids and sea shells, it really can be used equally well for our lives away from the sea and ocean as several of us have done. Katherine used the vellum piece that accompanies the kit on her layout and it looks wonderful!

It appears that the yellow in this kit is a huge hit! The pop of yellow, complimented by the Pink Fresh Studio letter stickers from a prior kit on Moon’s layout are stunning! The droplets of mist on the white cardstock really compliment the splash of the exclusive patterned paper. How sute is that bike on the DITL card?

I used all the elements in the sketch but condensed the two 4×3 DITL cards (or photos) into a single, long strip. I also moved the title onto the large background paper. The floral, painted flowers of the Bella Blvd patterned paper were the inspiration for the colors in my layout. The weight of the papers on the right hand side of the page are balanced by the wonder washi that come in this month’s main kit. Finally; use scrapbookers get washi too! Woot!

I created a process video that I would love to share with you. If you are of the process video watching variety, be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel as I create at least 2-3, often 4 Cocoa Daisy kit based videos a month.

I hope you are inspired by all the wonderful examples above and play along with us! Participating in the challenges is a great way to potentially earn $$ to spend on a Cocoa Daisy shopping spree! Please upload your projects to one of these places;
