Travel Documenting with the Wayfarer Collection

Hello, friends!

Document all kinds of traveling with the Wayfarer Collection! Today, our Creative Team shares how ways to use this collection to document beach days, camping trips, and mini-albums for special travel memories.

Traci Reed: Beach Trip Documenting

When I saw the Wayfarer Collection, I knew it would be PERFECT for these photos of my son in South Carolina. That gorgeous nautical theme worked perfectly with the cloudy skies and moody sea.
I used approximately eleventy-billion rub-ons to customize my photo and the polka dot background paper and I love the way it came out!

Marsha Farris: Camping Trip Documenting

The first full week of June, I went on a camping trip with my family. The Wayfarer Collection was perfect for documenting the week in my memory planner.
I used teal patterned paper to create a large tag and made a pocket by stitching vellum onto it. I then used an app on my photo to create two collages with photos and journaling to document the trip.
Amazingly, I was able to get fourteen photos and lots of journaling on this pullout! A trimmed pocket card and puffy alphabet stickers from the Wayfarer Modern Memory Keeping Kit made a fun title on the vellum pocket.
I included a ticket die cut and added a photo to one of the journaling sticky notes to continue the travel design onto the right page of the spread. I also used more of the puffy alphabet stickers and another trimmed journaling card.
For the finishing touches, I added a few rub-ons and some of the labels die cuts around the page. I love the sentiments on the labels and was happy to find some that fit well with my spread. This was a fun layout to create using the beautiful Wayfarer Collection! See the details up close in this Instagram Reel.

Amy Argyros: Travel Mini Album

What better way to prepare for a trip or feature your travel stories than in a mini album! Mini Albums can be made from a variety of materials and in a variety of sizes, which provides you the flexibility to tell your stories in your own unique way. Today I am sharing a travel-themed mini album I created using multiple kits and 12×12 patterned paper from Cocoa Daisy’s Wayfarer Collection, file folders, and a prong fastener. I used three file folders cut 8.5” tall to construct the base of my project. I cut the first tab 5’ wide to create the cover and front inside pocket. For the second folder, I scored at 4.5” from the fold at each side to create an accordion fold, which I used to make my top-loading pocket. The last file folder I cut in half using the tabbed side and scored it at 5” from the tab. I then created my last side/top-loading pocket. This setup using the file folder tabs allowed me to divide my mini album into three sections.
The first section I created to use for planning my trip. I used a prong fastener to add multiple pages where I can house all my travel planning details – destination map, accommodations, attractions, notes on food, culture, and language, a page for a shopping list, and most importantly a page for emergency numbers. And the great thing about using a prong fastener – you can add more pages to include any other important information you may want to have on hand or remember for your trip. The side pocket can be used to store receipts, tickets, or any other memorabilia and photos from my travels. It can also be used as a dashboard to tape business cards and other little notes I may take or collect along the way.
The second section has three pockets I constructed out of different sheets of 12×12 patterned paper, a few pages from the Wayfarer Simple Dori which will serve as a travelers notebook within my album, and one more pocket made from velum in the back. This section is meant to be a place for me to write my stories from my travel adventures, store additional memorabilia and photos, and keep a few notes for future reference.
The smaller pockets up front currently hold supplies to have on hand to decorate my pages while away – washi tape from the Wayfarer Planner Kit and Wayfarer Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping Kit, die cuts, labels, gold foiled vellum die cuts from the Wayfarer Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping Kit, and Wayfarer Classified: Memory Keeping Kit, and a few pocket cards from the Wayfarer Modern Memory Keeping Kit. I included a few other embellishments I made from scraps of paper. The largest pocket is home to a journal I created using tags from the Wayfarer Classified: Memory Keeping Kit. I cut a few extra tag pages from 28# printer paper and embellished them with scraps of paper, washi tape, and die-cuts from both the Wayfarer Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping Kit and Wayfarer Classified: Memory Keeping Kit, as well as stickers from the Wayfarer Memory Keeping Sticker Kit…I even did a little stamping using the stamp set from the Wayfarer Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. I bound all the pages together using a natural ribbon and white twine I had in my stash.
The last section in this mini-album includes a side pocket designed to hold larger memorabilia, such as maps and postcards, as it opens on both the left side and the top. In this section, I included a 12.75”x 8.25” foldout page. This foldout can be used to include more photos and stories or it can be used to highlight a portion of your trip or simply recap your travels. In this album, I created a layout highlighting a trip to one of our favorite beaches on the island of Lefkada. I added a Wayfarer Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping Kit card to the front page. I printed a full-page photo for the inside flap and added the “FUN IN THE SUN” acrylic piece found in the Wayfarer Modern Memory Keeping Kit.
The spread then opens up to a 12.75”x 8.25” grid layout where I cut 2×2 pieces from the 12×12 waves patterned paper. I added washi and die cuts from the Wayfarer Planner Kit, Wayfarer Planner Add-On Kit, and Wayfarer Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. I used my tiny attacher to adhere the “fun” white acrylic phrase from the Wayfarer Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping Kit to one of my 2×2 squares. I also did a little stamping using the stamps from the Wayfarer Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping Kit and the Wayfarer Modern Memory Keeping Kit and of course some 2×2 2×4 and 4×2 photos to wrap up this layout. I hope you found some inspiration today. Whether you try your hand at a file folder mini-album, add a prong faster to your next project, or modify a TN spread to include a 12.75”x8.5” flip out, I hope your next adventure is a great one! Happy Travels! See the details of my mini-album in this video on my YouTube Channel.
