Inspiration Tuesday | Harry Potter and August Kits

It is after September first and no Hogwarts letter again this year.  What is a girl to do?

Scrap about it at least!

And the Back Porch kits are just the perfect thing.  Moons and owls and stars with deep blues and gold.

My next conundrum was how to deal with a story with a lot of photos and a lot of words.  I divided each into their own pages.

I created a pocket page like grid with polaroid style photos. Each is cut a little less than 3×4 inches to fit the 9×12 paper while leaving a border. I added a few patterned cards from the Pocket Memory Keeping kit. I love using a variety of different things for embellishments, like the tickets, word strips, gold foil labels, and die cuts.

I printed my journaling directly on to patterned paper. The effect turned out beautifully.  I love to trim embellishments to fit the edge of the text.  The lovely little owl is a punched circle from another Pocket kit card.

I also made a small pile of die cut stars from the patterned paper to cascade across the page.

This kit also has so many great exclusive pieces.  Like these acrylic titles and stars.  I tucked one under the journaling and scattered more stars across the top.

I hope you liked hearing about how my project came together and that it inspired you to try some of these ideas on your next layout, like printed journaling on patterned paper, a divided two page spread, die cutting your own embellishments and polaroid style pictures.

You can see the whole process of the layout coming together here on my YouTube channel, Rainbow Scraps.

Thanks for everything! You can always find me at Cocoa Daisy, or on my blog and instagram!
