Hi, It’s Lisa here with you today.
It’s a little bit of a round up of the month. I’ve gotten together with some of my team mates and we grouped together some little tips that we have using this March Kit. It;s sometimes so obvious when you see how someone else uses something and you think ”Why didn’t I think of that?”. So, that’s where the title comes from. If you like this idea, please tell us and we will keep it going each month.
I’m going to start us off with Kylie.
Kylie has used the patterned paper with all the frames. She says ”By adding small amounts of foam tape to the back of these fussy cut frames, really helps your photos pop and standout on your layout. It gives an added depth for your images….”.
”And in this image you can see the overall effect this has given to the photos. I’ve also added foam again to the back of the images for even more depth”.
I think adding the height on that page makes such a difference.
Suz has a couple of tips for us too.
Suz created a hidden journaling spot for her DITL spread by using a washi tape sticker from the Crate Paper Maggie Homes Sticker sheet included in the main kit as a pull tab. What a great idea!! Sometimes you don’t want all the journaling on display. This works great!
With this card, Suz customized/embellished by adding some of the Pretty Little Studio vellum washi strips to the exclusive striped patterned paper. Such a pretty card!!
Suz also has this DITL spread to share.
Here’s Suz’s tips…. ”I added more facts (Location of hotel we stayed at and the name) with my vintage typewriter onto a few blank pink tape strips on the Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams patterned paper.) I will add more journaling with a 4×6 drop in tabbed card behind one of the 4×6 patterned papers. I seem to be favoring journaling this way of late. It help to reduce the busyness on my pages and allows me to journal more things, which I might not do normally because of posting online.
I also stitched around a sentiment from the Pebbles Tealightful patterned paper to and highlighted it by coloring it in with a Neocolors II crayon and then painted it. I also used repetition of design with the pink sentiment sticker strips across my layout”.
Great tips Suz, thank you!
I love this next page from Moonlee.
Moonlee says, ”I’m not sure if coloring is still popular or not. However, I had fun coloring those moons and stars in yellow to match the color of the title”.
What a great idea to colour in your papers to help them coordinate with your design more. It really helps that title to stand out even more.
And to finish both Katherine and myself have used the cotton bags that the DITL kits come in, both in different ways.
Here’s Katherine’s.
Katherine has used the whole bag here. She used the packaging for a title and then stitched the DITL bag right on to the page for storage. That’s such a cute idea!!
Here’s my tip of the month!! I’ve taken the string out of the bag to use on this page here.
I placed a little coloured ink from a spray mist with some water in an old jam jar and left to soak for a few minutes.
I then took it out and dried in some kitchen paper towel and used on my page to thread these tags along.
I was so happy with how this turned out.
I hope you enjoyed these tips. Do share if you have any yourself. We’d love to hear and let us know if you would like this blog post to be a regular feature.
Thank you!
