Hello. Lisa here today to share some little tips & tricks with you.
Today I’m talking alphas. Sometimes in a kit you may love the alphas included but they don’t quite go with the LO that you are creating. I am using this months June kit as an example to show you how you can adapt alphas to suit any of your projects.
I made this LO here using this month kit.
I’ve used the pink Jillibean alpha stickers from the Daisy Chain addon. As much as I love the baby pink, the alphas would have looked a little lost on this page. So I took a black journal pen and coloured over the top. I like to colour whilst they are still on the sticker sheet so it doesn’t matter if I go out of the lines. I leave them to dry for a bit so they don’t smudge when I stick them on the page.
If you look closely, I haven’t coloured them in completely, I’ve allowed a little of the pink to shine through. Seeing as there is pink on the LO it fits in well like this.
Another one of my LO’s where I jazzed up the alphas was this one here.
Also from the Daisy Chain addon. I adore these foam words. Aren’t they just the coolest!! But stuck over the black paint on the page they kind of just blended in. Not so cool! I took my Tim Holtz White Distress Stain and wiped over the foam words. This worked much better and now they can be seen. They fit in with the whole look of the page really well now.
I changed the foam thickers that come with the main kit too on my ‘Hello Sushi’ LO. These Thickers are so much fun. I love them so much. But the plain black look just wasn’t quite right for this LO when there was so much colour going on everywhere else.
I used the same white stain as before as a base and then once dry I painted over some Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze. I used the white first otherwise the orange would not have shown so well against the black. I love how the glaze has crackled on the foam.
Now one final change. You can see the wooden word ‘Hello’ that comes in the ‘day in the life kit’. I liked mine how it was but I love how a couple of the design team changed their’s.
Emily sprayed her’s gold : )
And Piradee painted her’s white for her PL page.
And my absolute favourite is Alissa’s. Look at all that texture and gold. LOVE!!!
So as you can see, you don’t have to always use your alphas as they are. If you need to adapt them a little to fit in with your project you can. There are many ways to do this.
