Join us as we welcome Carson Ruitta this month. We found Carson via Instagram, she’s got such a lovely clean and graphic style and she was always interacting with our posts, so we figured it would be a good fit. We were right!
Carson used both the March scrapbooking kit, Brand New Day, and our Day in the Life: March kit and rocked them big time! Be sure to check out her gallery and find the card she made using the exclusive stamps found in the main kit, it’s truly amazing!
Here’s her introduction:
Hello, I’m so excited to be here today and introduce myself. I’ve been playing with paper since 2008 when my dear sister-in-law came into my life and it’s turned into a full blown obsession. For years I learned the ropes through card making. Once I had the kiddos, I started to dabble in Project Life. From there I wanted to be a bit more artistic so I picked up art journaling. Now I’ve finally taken the leap into scrapbooking and I feel like it’s the perfect culmination of everything that came before. I’m a woman possessed! My husband doesn’t see me much anymore once the kids are in bed.During the days (when I can’t play with my paper), I’m chasing my two boys around our little town of Apex in our new home state of North Carolina. I love my coffee (cream, no sugar), my husband (all sugar) and most everything about being a mama to two beautiful boys (the cream on top of this wonderful life). If I wasn’t in my child rearing phase, I like to think I’d be traveling the world, working in a creative field and soaking up inspiration wherever possible. One thing I wouldn’t be doing is making dinner every night.
Get to know Carson better by reading through her answers to our questionnaire:
1. What is your most creative time?
I find I’m the most productive in the morning and the most creative at night, so when my two boys are tucked in tight I usually head to the craft room with a cup of tea and my headphones and lose track of time while I craft.
2. Share your current top 5 favorite songs/music groups with us.
My musical tastes are stuck in the 90’s as my music library hasn’t grown much since my college days. I love crafting to Brandi Carlile and when I need a pick me up I usually turn to Maroon 5. Honestly, I’d probably rather listen to a podcast most nights than turn on the tunes.
3. If you were in a Rock N’ Roll band, what would your job be?
I’d totally be the manager, with the lists and the contacts and the calendar and when the band went to party after the show I’d have one drink and pass out on all the coats.
4. Did you ever want to change your name? If so, to what?
I did change my name, well kind of. My parents named me Carson and then decided it was too adult for a sweet little baby so they called me Carrie. The nickname stuck through high school and when I went off to college, half way across the country, I decided to reclaim my name. It was always a little difficult to adjust during visits home, but I love my name and I’m so glad I made the change.
5. If your life was a movie, what actress would play you?
Well, I would like to think it would be Jennifer Garner or Julia Roberts, but I think I’m really a Kristen Wigg, and I’m okay with that, she is way funny, that one!
6. What’s your favorite accessory?
My glasses…
7. If your life were a novel, what would the title be?
Practical Girl and the Case of the Missing Socks
8. What was your first job and how did you get it?
I started babysitting at the age of 9 and didn’t stop until college. I was very tall for my age and must have looked quite trustworthy and through word of mouth, I stayed very busy and well paid throughout my childhood.
9. What food would describe your style?
Green beans, they always look the same, but never sloppy, and every once in a while, if you’re lucky, they’ll have some almonds on them.
10. What is “dressed up” for you?
For date night I’ll throw on a dress, some boots and a cardigan, blush and mascara. That’s as fancy as I get, much to my husband’s chagrin.
