May Flaum is a lifelong crafter that makes her home with her two daughters and husband in California. She doesn’t believe her scrapbooks can have too much stitching, sequins, or kraft cardstock and is never found without a great pair of scissors. From scrapbook layouts to mixed media creations, when not traveling she can be found spending time in her studio blogging, creating, and teaching on-line classes.

And, as promised, here are those 10 simple questions that will help you get to know May a little bit better. Enjoy!

1. What is your most creative time?
Usually, I am most creative when there are deadlines and crazy busy things happening and I have absolutely no time to make. That’s when the ideas hit, and that is why I keep journals all over so I can jot them all down and harness the creativity.

2. Share your current top 5 favorite songs/music groups with us.
Harry Connick Jr is forever #1 and the only musician I call favorite. If I need an energy boost then it is always Pitbull, and if I just want to have some tunes on these days Olly Murs, Meghan Trainor, and Bruno Mars keep the energy upbeat.

3. What is your drink of choice?
Water keeps me healthy, happy, my skin looking good, and the calories down. Seriously 99.9% of the time my cup just has plain ‘ol water in it. Since making this switch I’ve had so many benefits to my health – worth it!

4. Did you ever want to change your name? If so, to what?
Of course. As a kid it is really annoying to have a name (named after great grandma) that is also a month and have people who think they are soooo clever make jokes. I was pretty sure any other name on the planet (outside Summer, June, or April) would have been preferable.

5. If your life was a movie, what actress would play you?
I’m gonna say a blend of Doris Day circa Calamity Jane crossed with Melissa McCarthy circa Spy. Somewhere between those two extremes is where I live. Though if we make the question what actress would you not mind playing in real life for a week it would be Sophia Vergara (helloooo, Joe).

6. What’s your favorite accessory?
My sense of humor.

7. How do you cheer yourself up?
I don’t entertain the small dramas of life. I own responsibility for my own happiness and choices, and I just simply flick off all the small things that I so often hear being downer/bad day material. When I am having an especially hard time then doing kindnesses for others, finding someone else to cheer up, or just smiling a bit extra always helps on a gloomy day.

8. If you could have a luncheon with any three people (real or fictitious/from any time period, dead or alive), which three people would you choose and why?
I would have a Galentines day lunch with Amy Poehler, Ree (Pioneer Woman) Drummond, and J.K. Rowling so that each would see how I would be a great friend and addition to their social circles. I love strong, creative, funny women who are passionate about what they do and would just enjoy spending time with ladies at the tops of their fields that have created careers where most people wouldn’t have seen potential.

9. What food would describe your style?
My creative style is an awesome buffet that is exploding with flavor and fun. So let’s say that. A really top of the line, has everything from sushi to 100 desserts to tacos to salad buffet.

10. If you could go on one trip this week where would it be?
I would head to New England to see beautiful leaves and feel some real fall weather! It’s endless summer around here right now and I would love the break. Not to mention the great seafood and beautiful scenery!
