Julie Mooney October Set Up Flip Through Video

Falling in Love with Autumn & Cocoa Daisy

Hi planner friends. Julie here today to share what my planner looks like right after I’ve set it all up and it’s ready to go for the next month. Julie Mooney October Set Up Flip Through VideoI’m a bit ahead of schedule this month, which is a good thing, since I’m planning on setting up a Halloween planner in addition to the October planner. I just love this season and I’m excited to show you what I’ve got in my planner this month! So scroll on down to see the gorgeous Autumn colors of Flannel and Frost. If you would like to see the video of my set-up, please click the thumbnail to the left.

The first dashboard that I set up was this gratitude pocket shown below. I specifically knew that I wanted to use some of the elements that I had from October and November of last year and I also wanted to make good use of some of the packaging that comes with our kits each month. I was able to use the “Hello Autumn” cork piece from the Memphis Season Memory Keeping Pocket kit from November 2019 and I used both the glassine bag and the dark brown wooden packaging piece in this layout. I punched all of the paper with the same punch for a cohesive look and wrapped it up with a couple of doilies from the Flannel & Frost Classified: Planner kit, a jute ribbon that I found in my stash and topped it off with a bookplate cut from one of the papers from the Flannel & Frost Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping kit. I’ll be using the dashboard in the pocket to record some moments of gratitude throughout the month.

Next up is my goals & intentions spread. I like to set my goals and intentions for the month because even if I don’t achieve them perfectly, I find myself moving positively forward when I focus on what I want to achieve for the month. I used the gorgeous plaid paper from the Flannel & Frost Planner kit for the background and topped it off with a couple of the pages from the A5 Daisy Dori booklet, using the glitter swirls from the Flannel & Frost Planner Add-On kit as a divider between the papers. I took advantage of the freebie sheet of alpha stickers in the Classic Sticker kit and ran a trimmed off piece of washi from the Flannel & Frost Planner Add-On kit under each section of my goals. I’m ready to add my goals and intentions to my planner next week!

Inspired by the tab stickers in the planner kit, I made one of my dashboards into a place to record my autumn bucket list. I cut up the week on one page, colorblock page from the loose inserts of the planner kit to make the page flags and layered them along with a puffy leaf, some die cuts and the glitter dots from the memory keeping kits. I can’t wait to write down my bucket list and then to get out and do the things on the list this month.

My weekly layouts are all set up to a “before the pen” status, with all of my commitments ready for me. I used the A5 Daisy Dori to choose each of my weekly spreads and I make stickers to coordinate with the colors for each week.

I can never get enough of two things – Simon and gingham! And I’m a really big fan of green so I just loved how the Simon pocket card from the Flannel & Frost Classified: Planner kit, the green gingham paper and the puffy stickers from the Flannel & Frost Planner kit matched perfectly. One of my mom’s favorite stories is that she went outside to rake leaves for hours in hopes that it would make her labor start so that I could come into this world. It was the first thing that I thought of when I saw this adorable pocket card.

I love that the Cocoa Daisy kits vary the products that you receive each month. And since there were sequins in the Flannel & Frost Classified: Planner kit and Flannel & Frost Memory Keeping: Pocket kit this month, I went a little shaker crazy! The first one, pictured below is a mason jar full of the beautiful gold-tipped vellum leaves from the Flannel & Frost Memory Keeping: Pocket kit along with the sequins. The tiny leaves in the sequins just make this all come together so nicely. I used the stamps in the Flannel & Frost Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping kit to stamp on the back of the small tag that also came in that kit.

I continued with the theme of sequins as leaves in another shaker dashboard – this one as a window with a bare tree and all the “leaves” blowing in the wind. This wood-grained paper from the Memory Keeping kits is one of my favorites.

Last, but not least, I took advantage of the free printables that are available to everyone each month that coordinate with the kits. I took the “it’s Fall Y’all” pocket card and enlarged it when printing onto transparency film to make an acetate-type dashboard to cover my prayers page. I think it also makes the wood washi on my Currently page shine a bit more too.

Julie, I have a new name for you: “Design Queen”. I’ve decided that “Queen of Crafts” isn’t good enough. “Design Queen” covers it all, just as you have done every month.

I’m particularly drawn to your “Goals & Intentions” page. I love how you added the patterned paper with the glitter swirls. And your Autumn leaves jar is charming (along with everything else)!

Thank you for the inspiration! As a side note, I loved hearing your story about your mom raking leaves.

You crack me up. My nickname in college was “Date Queen” – for real.
