The Memphis Season kits were inspired by the Memphis Group. This style is known for bold colours and patterns that use unusual shapes and is having a major moment right now. Today Jil and I have some Traveler’s Notebook layouts using the Memphis Season Kits, inspired by this innovative style.
Jil made this gorgeous fall TN layout using some fantastic elements from the kits. I really like the way she incorporated stamping! Jil says: “True to Memphis Group style, I combined black and white with vibrant colors on this spread that documents my love for nature and fall art challenges. Leaf die cuts from the classified and memory keeping kits helped me carry the art and nature theme across the spread.
I used the dot stamp from the stamp set in the TN kit through a stencil to get more black and white accents into my design.
I also included washi tape clusters to both sides of the spread. Love that artsy washi in this month’s kits!”
Jil and I both used this fabulous orange patterned paper. I had a lot of blues and warm tones in my photos so orange seemed like the perfect complementary colour for major pop! I used some of the florals and leaves on the page around my photos to playa bit more with pattern.
I used a patterned paper under my photos too, it had the perfect colours to go with my page. On the edge of this side I adhered a strip of the paper I used on the other side of my layout.
I used a couple of different alphas from the kits to create a bold title on my page to finish it off.
I also wanted to share my favourite use for the t-square from the Memphis Season Traveler’s Notebook Kit! It’s perfect for aligning alpha stickers when you’re spelling out a word. I stick the very bottom of the letters on my t-square. Then I can move it around on the page to find the perfect spot for them and hold down the top of the letters while removing the t-square!
