Greetings Cocoa Daisy friends,
Today the Memory Keeping design team is sharing pocket page designs with the Autumn Whimsy and Book Club kits. Our first design is a sweet 6×8 layout by Mel who notes, “the 6×8 PL format is my preferred size when creating PL spreads! It’s fun, quick and easy to tell a couple of stories!”
“I love using the October date card to highlight the beginning of my October PL spreads. As well the label card was so fun to use to document our favorite music, paired with a chipboard element it makes for one fun card!”
Mel’s journaling with a typewriter and the subtle triangle she created with the star in her photo and the star puffy stickers from the Autumn Whimsy kits draw us into the simple sweetness of her design and stories.
Odessa is sharing a 6×8 project life design too. She explains, “the seasons are very vibrant here and fall is always so fun. Pocket page memory keeping is my favourite and I was so excited to use the Autumn Whimsy kits! The Sweater Weather card is my fav and I used it along with some cozy crochet and pumpkin spice photos. My second fav are the star puffy stickers I used on the iced coffee photo. They’re so cute!”
Balance is really important to me on a layout and these pockets are all about balance. In the corners diagonal from each other are white cards with bright warm phrases on them, autumn vibes and pumpkin spice everything. In the other corners the pockets are filled with warm brown tones. In the middle, diagonally across from each other are cool graphic cards with simple phrases – the ampersand and sweater weather cards. In the other pockets are grey toned photos with warm accents – the bright latte in one and the bold circle and so each bubble in the other. The embellishments are also placed diagonally opposite each other. What can I say, I love balance!”
“I used some fun photo formats here, the top left pocket is a tiny 2×2-ish photo and the photos in the right pockets are actually a 3×8 photo that I cut in half and decided not to stack on top of each other.” I really appreciate that Odessa walked us through her design process and the tips she shared on placement and color. And those puffy stickers are a real hit with our design team!
I am sharing a pocket letter design with you today using items from the Book Club kits. Admittedly, I am a bit behind with my project but that’s ok because I like to sketch ideas as soon as Christine starts sharing sneaks of kits. It’s fun to revisit my ideas a week or two later when I have the actual kit in my hands. I followed my sketch however it took more time than I planned because I added hand stitching to all but one of the pockets.
One of the quote cards was created with texture paste and oxide inks because I love to play with stencils. The stitched hearts were created with a punch from my stash.
I used items from all of the memory keeping kits, the free print and cut sheet, and a clip from the planner kits. The pocket page protector size is 8.5×11 by We R Memory Keepers. You can still find them and albums of the same size on Amazon.com.
We hope you enjoyed seeing our designs and look forward to seeing what you create! Please share your layouts with us on the Memory Keeping Facebook group or your favorite social media account.
XOXO,
Mel, Odessa, & Robin
