Playing with a Sketch

Jil here with two variations on this month’s sketch. It’s a wonderful across-the-page design:

And here is a beautiful page by Odessa that follows the sketch pretty closely. She started with a grid page in the TN and worked with her favorite papers from the Lemon Grove kits.

Odessa used a tabbed die cut, as in the sketch, and added an amazing touch with the layered doilies, which emphasize the photo and her big title. I’m so inspired to try this myself! She placed strips of yellow paper on each end of her spread to make the rich blues pop.

This detail shot shows how she altered the wood veneer with white ink to integrate it with the colors of her page and used a phrase stamp for her journaling. Such a gorgeous take on the sketch!

I worked with the South Beach kit to document an early summer family get-together.

I departed from the sketch to include two photos, but I also layered papers and die cuts within my design. My title and journaling find a home on the tag beneath the photo, as does the date–added with the roller date stamp included in the Travelers Notebook kit. The sketch calls for splatters, and I love this look. Besides ink, I included star stickers from the Memory Keeping Classified kit and perfect pearl dots in coral in my spray of confetti to represent the celebratory mood of being together as a family.

Even though the kit is travel-themed, it is versatile enough to document any summer event or everyday moment. Sometimes the “view” is of faces we love!

Like Odessa, I used the phrase stamps from the Lemon Grove Memory Keeping Classified kit as part of my title and the deep yellow puffy alphas from this month’s kit to spell out “us.” Phrase stickers and die cuts aplenty!

I hope you enjoyed our work with this sketch and feel inspired to give it your own interpretation! Tag us on social media when you do so we can see!
