About Me – Simone

Hello, Helloho!

This is how I usually start my videos. I felt so awkward when I first started that this mantra like introduction help me overcome my hesitation. So. This post is all about me. I even created a layout to go with it.

This is me in a nutshell: I’m 40. I’m German. I live in the US. I have three sons. I love to create. I just started rock climbing. I’m an introvert. And I’m crazy!

I used a “go to” method to create my layout. This design always works for me and it turns out differently when giving it a little twist. So what is the “go to” method? I divide the background in a 3×3 grid then I use a 4 inch strip of paper and either place it vertically or horizontally on one edge of the background. Then I place my photo on the intersection of one of the horizontal and vertical grid lines. I don’t do this with pen and pencil and measure it out. Instead I eyeball it and hope for the best. As you can see: it worked again this time!

If you look at the closeup you can see that the clusters behind my photo consist of many different things: journaling cards, packaging, tissue paper – these are all perfectly suitable to be tucked behind your photo to create more dimension on your layout! If you are concerned about these items being archival I suggest backing your photo with one layer of archival paper and then going to town with the rest. If you want to see what exactly I used for layering and how I created my layout here is a link to the process video, it is also added below.

But first, I thought I would answer these fun questions that all the other members of the Memory Keeping Team answered as well.
1. When is your most creative time?
In the mornings after my kids have left for school.
2. How do you unwind?
I love watching scrapbooking process videos on youtube.
3. If you were in a Rock N’ Roll band, what would your job be?
I would probably be a background singer. I love helping other people shine.
4. What is your guilty pleasure?
Chocolate. And spending way too much money on scrapbooking supplies.
5. If your life was a movie, what actress would play you?
Meg Ryan.
6. What’s your favorite accessory?
My iphone. Does that count?
7. If your life were a novel, what would the title be?
She counted them all!
8. What was your first job and how did you get it?
I taught our little neighbor how to play the recorder. His mom and my mom were friends.
9. Share three of your bucket list items with us.
Making that quilt for my mom that I promised her 10 years ago.
Meet all of my online friends in real life.
Live somewhere at the ocean.
10. What is “dressed up” for you?
I have a little story to go with this. When I was about 11, I was supposed to go to a wedding with my parents. My other siblings would stay home with my grandparents. But I had to wear a skirt and tights which I hated. It was either put on tights and skirt or stay at home. So chose to stay at home.

Finally, here is the process video for my layout, thank you so much for checking it out!
