We were chatting on the message board recently about different projects you would like to see on the blog and one thing that came up was seeing more creations using older and new kits together. It’s been quite a while since I’ve done that, so I thought it would be fun.
I do like pulling old kits together with the news ones. It feels like I’m creating one big mega kit.
Today I am scrapping with my January leftovers and my lovely February kit. Don’t the colours go well together? Some great contrasts there. Just what I like to see.
I ended up creating this LO here.
I’ll show you now how I got there.
I created my base to work on. I like to match the photo colours with my papers so they compliment each other well. Love that these blues match my son’s footy kit.
A little tip: I like to just add a little sticky tape in the centre of each piece. This way I can easily maneuver it around until I’m happy and I can also slide layers under if I wish. I love creating layers.
Building on my layers here. I’ve used quite a bit from the DITL Kits. These are great with layers. All those bits and pieces.
Here’s another tip: don’t be put off by using pieces if they don’t quite fit what you want. Cut them up like this piece here, which ends up looking like this. See where I’ve slid this piece under at the top.
I also liked this piece here. But just not as a speech bubble.
And as I only stick everything down at the centre, I could also slide this in so it looks like this.
There is always a way around using pieces. Never be put off.
After lots more layering, a little journaling and some fun title work, I was finally left with this.
It’s really fun pulling different kits together. It gives you a whole new love and feel of excitement.
If you haven’t done it before, you should try it.
Lisa, this LO is so cool! I love your tutorial too on how to construct it. And the pics of your handsome lad make it the best. Thanks for sharing!
PS we spoke and you listened.
