Greetings Fellow Papercrafters!
I am currently enjoying everything about fall break, and as I’m writing this blog post I’m wondering if you ever develop a “game plan” for working with your kit goodies each month. Personally, I begin to feel slightly guilty if I don’t make a sizable dent in my kit in the first couple months that it resides with me. To make that happen, I have a little routine that I generally follow when I get a new kit that helps me really make the most of it.
Obviously, I first must open the box and “oooh and aaah” over every beautiful piece inside. Two thumbs way up to this month’s product packaging. Polka dots? Yes, please!
Once I have introduced myself to all my pretty new bits, I will house them neatly in one of my Target trays. These are generally available in the housewares section of Target. They hold 12×12 papers nicely with room on the side for a pair bowls for the embellishments. I am always careful to organize all my kits so that I can remember which bits go with which kits. This way I can focus on each one in a separate project.
Now generally I try to make my first project with the Main Kit only. This month I just couldn’t do that. There were so many cute whimsical elements scattered throughout the kits that I just had to have all out fun on my first layout. I was delighted with the results. Once I got that out of my system, I was able to have a slightly more disciplined approach. With my October kits, I had decided that I wanted to finally finish all the project life pages from January and February of this year. I am proud to say that I accomplished that goal. You might be wondering how I scrapbooked January and February with an October kit. The answer is that it was quite easy. I find that the kits each month are really quite versatile. I love that about them.
Now since my first flurry of creating with my kit for reveal night, I have been slowly adding pretties to my planner.
With mid-month fast approaching, I suddenly realize that it is time to kick it back in high gear. My November Kit will be here before I know it and I still have tons of gorgeous paper to work with from October! Ack! I have made myself a list of projects that I need to do and want to do and am ready to get started. I hope to be back soon with more inspiration to share. How about you? Do you have a plan for your current kit? We’d love to see what you create with it! You can share a link here or in our gallery! 🙂
Love this post so much Doris! Great tips! There is always a ton of gorgeousness left over eek!
