Cocoa Daisy was founded in 2006 by Tricia Canonico. I first joined Cocoa Daisy as a subscriber in 2007, then became increasingly more involved as Design Team member, helping Tricia put together project kits, and attending CHA with her.
Well, fast forward to 2010. I found myself having to leave my marriage of 11 years, with no work history for the last 8 because I’d been a stay at home Mom.
At that time Tricia happened to be pregnant, moving to another state and planning to close things down here at Cocoa Daisy. I approached her and said I wanted to do it!

I was terrified… leaving a marriage, moving in with my parents and starting a business all at the same time. That was the worst, most stressful summer of my life! But I knew I had to give it a try because it was the perfect scenario for me. I’d be doing something I love and I’d also be home with the boys. My background in graphic design from before I became engaged, including 10 years’ experience as a Composition Manager, gave me the confidence to jump in and pray that God had placed this opportunity in front of me for a reason.

It’s been an amazing 5 years! In the last five years we’ve changed our logo a couple of times and overhauled the site twice. I’ve played around with packaging numerous times in my quest to give our customers that perfect “oooohhh” moment when they open their box. I’ve added more amazing people to my core team, including new designers and new artists. I’ve had to expand and move the shipping from the basement “Bunker” out into the garage and hire more people to help with shipping. After some gentle nudging from Emily I took my designs for my own planner and started the process of creating a line of Cocoa Daisy Day Planner inserts; our first Planner Kit debuted in October 2014 and I’ve been humbled by the response we’ve received. Cocoa Daisy has grown from offering 1 Scrapbook kit subscription to offering 9 different Scrapbook and Planner kits.

With all the changes of the last five years, I’ve been so busy launching and fine tuning the planner line that I’ve had to give up most of my creative time. However, I’ve never lost my passion for my first love which is documenting memories and playing with pretty paper and glue. I think that’s why I love having beautiful planner pages; even when life gets hectic I can use some bits and pieces from the scrapbook kits to decorate my planner pages and I can feed my creative soul just a little bit.

I’ve spent the last 5 years working hard to create a company not just to support me and my boys, but to offer quality products (including all Cocoa Daisy products made right here in the USA), at a fair price and to always make sure that our customers feel valued. I’m truly thankful for each and every customer that purchases our product and I hope they can feel the care and love that goes into each box we ship out.

    Thank you for letting us read about your journey! I can’t imagine the stress you experienced five years ago!
    One of the biggest reasons I chose to start a subscription at Cocoa Daisy was that the kits seemed less girly than the other kits around. Maybe your two beautiful boys are the reason for that! I have two boys as well, and really appreciate not having to work around more girly papers and accessories all the time!
