July’s Designers Challenge : ‘Decorative Borders’

Hello friends.Kylie here again today with the Designers Challenge for July. How fun!

This month’s theme is ‘Decorative Borders’. How can you incorporate a decorative border into your project? It may include stitching, stamping or paper off cuts.Let’s take a look at some of the inspiration for this theme from the super talented Design Team-

First up is Moon with a wonderful layout featuring thin strips of coloured paper for her border.I love all these colours!Wonderful!

Next is Kelly’s inspirational piece. She has cut strips from varying DITL kit cards and added to one side with some detail stitching.Beautiful!

Next is a lovely layout by Wendy. She has also used co-ordinating strips of paper to frame and balance her layout.I love that elements from both past and present kits have been used too.Super!

Next is a double, pocket page spread by Katherine. She has cleverly incorporated the challenge theme by using the gingham ribbon from this months kit.Fantastic!

And next is my take on the challenge theme.I have cut a border within my background paper to frame my layout.

Here is a lovely layout by Lisa.

In her own words-

“I have used the whole set of washi strips from the DITL kit as a whole to sit behind my photo.
I then cut a strip from the Shimelle borders patterned paper from the paper add on to use at the bottom of my page.”

And finally a gorgeous layout by Marie-

In her own words-

“I framed my photo with layering of papers from the Scrapbook Kit & the Patterned Paper Add On. Then I was inspired by Kelli’s layouts from some time ago and created some fringes. At the bottom of my page, I used some straws as a border. I also used some embellishments from the Cocoa Daisy past kits.
The sequins are from the SpiegelMom Scraps pack included in this month planner kit.”
