On Boho Garden, Colors, and a Mood Board

Every month, Christine asks me to put together a mood board that reflects the colors and feel of the kit. For June’s Boho Garden, I had one all done, but then realized it was REALLY heavy on the hot pink/fuchsia/magenta side. I am loving using this color lately, I can’t get enough of it. So when I found it here and there in the kit, I used it.

But when I went back to check the photos Christine had taken for Boho Garden, there was very little of this color actually in the kit, there’s a piece of cardstock and this piece of WRMK patterned paper in the Patchwork add on. Some the papers and embellishments feature a bit of the color, but it’s not as prevalent in the kit as I thought. Isn’t it funny how you gravitate toward one color when you get a kit?

So I reworked the mood board to better reflect the kit that Christine so expertly puts together, and how really looks.

I asked the DT if they found a similar trend in their own creating, and if they did, to share a layout or project that best exemplified their finding. Here’s what they said:

PatriciaMost of my projects have the pink/fuchsia/magenta as the main color, but I did pull in some of the orange, lime, and aqua in a couple of my projects.

AshleyMy layouts this month were quite multi-coloured, but this kit got me out of my comfort zone of AVOIDING BLACK! Those black letter stickers in the main kit were awesome, and I enjoyed adding black to my layouts… I broke out black ink and paint for two of my pages and loved it! I think the great colours and patterns Christine put into the June kits helped me embrace the black — it added contrast, and a fun bold look without looking too harsh. I can’t wait to use some more black on the next projects I work on.

Nicole: I used a lot of the fuschia but loved the pops of black in the kit too! I think the thickers works so well against the bold colors in the kit.

Suz I used a bunch of the exclusive patterned papers in my designs-so my gallery is probably a balance of blues/greens and oranges/pinks.

ChristineI hardly used any pink 🙂 I gravitated toward the lime green and the aqua with lots of bright white and splashes of black.

Isn’t it interesting to see how each designer took the same kit and made it work for them? I think we’ll be doing same feature next month too!
