”Why didn’t I think of that?!!” – February Tips ‘n’ Tricks

Hi!

We are trying out a new monthly blog post on you today.  You know that feeling that you get when you look at someone’s LO and you see a simple idea and you think ”why didn’t I think of that?”. That’s what this new post is all about. It happens to me all the time when I see how other people have used the same monthly kit. So we as a team are going to collate our little kit tips and tricks for you each month.

This post will go up each month just as the kits are arriving, in time for you to scrap. I will also start a thread each month on the message board where you can add your own tips once you start scrapping with the same kit. I will add a link at the end of each blog post. Feel free to visit and add your own ideas and photos.

I’m going to start us off with the little vellum pieces that come in the ‘DITL’ kit. I love these!! How do you use yours? If you use them on a PL page, as they are vellum you can see straight through, the same applies to a LO. So I cut a piece of white card to size and simply attached with one staple at the top and bottom. This way you also see no adhesive.

On the same LO, using the little vellum hearts that also come in the DITL kit, I made a cute little banner. I took a needle and some silver thread and threaded through the hearts. I did add a little adhesive on each heart to secure in place.

We have a couple of kit tips from Ashli.

”Is the natural color of wood veneer not quite right for the colors on your page? Alter it with a wash of paint! Here I just used my finger to smear around some white…”.

”Do you have a journaling card that fits great with your page, but the shape of the card just won’t work with your design? Fussy cut your favorite element out! Here I just used my scissors to quickly cut out these words…”.

We have a tip from Doris.

”Create your own kraft cardstock with the paper bags that the kits come in! I think half my layouts end up on kraft and now I’m starting to think that I’ll never have to buy kraft cardstock again! I can’t get enough of this upcycling idea. It’s even perfect for stamping mistakes as on this peek I used an extra strip of the paper bag to cover up some stamping that I just didn’t like. And look at that added texture! I love it!”.

One from Denise.

”I only had a brown arrow left in the We R Memory Keepers pack and so I just flipped the arrow over to the white side!”.

And one final February kit tip, this one is from me again.

Need a quick and easy sentiment for card. Check the names of your patterned papers along the bottom. Some of them are perfect sentiments like this months Crate Paper in the Main Kit ‘Kiss Kiss’. I cut it from the bottom of the paper to use on my sister’s birthday card.

Please visit the MB here to add your own tips and tricks using the February Kit.

Thank you.
