When in doubt, add florals!
Can anyone else relate to this sentiment? Florals always add instant beauty and visual interest to any design. Their versatility goes beyond documenting your garden or a special event. A well-placed floral element (or a few!) can be the perfect accent to anything you document. For February, the Denim and Blush Collection features so many gorgeous florals including die cuts, stickers, papers, and washi. We asked two of our Memory Keeping Designers to incorporate florals in their designs and we can’t wait to share them with you!
First up, Carol shares a spread with all the flowery goodness.
“Sometimes for me creating starts with just one thing. For this particular layout, it was a combination of the floral sweatshirt my daughter was wearing, floral elements from the Denim and Blush Modern Memory Keeping Kit, Denim and Blush Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping Kit, Denim and Blush Modern Memory Keeping Kit, and this idea of “Growth”. Using all of these as inspiration I had so much fun playing creatively with different mixed media elements.
I used the Ruler from the Denim and Blush Modern Memory Keeping Kit to sketch out my own “ruler” on the page with both gelatos and watercolors. This was such a fun way to add this idea of measurement that comes along with growth.
Paper layers are my jam, especially adding a torn element or the folding up of a crisp cut edge to give a messy and whimsical look.
I added some stamps from the Modern Memory Keeping Kit as well for a bit of a journaling section and to give a flourishing flair to the horizontal lines that made up most of my page. This was so much fun to create that I’m thinking I might scrap lift it in the future!”
We love that the florals in Carol’s design help to tell the story she is documenting. Carol was inspired by the colors and patterns in the photo, which is a great way to choose the colors and patterns she used to embellish her page
Next, we have Ashley’s layout, complete with a stunning floral border.
“I’m obsessed with florals, so my heart leaped for joy when I saw all the gorgeous florals in the Denim and Blush Collection. For this layout, I used a sheet of 6×8 white cardstock and stamped two-thirds of the background using the botanical stamps and the exclusive blush pink ink, all found in the Denim and Blush Modern Memory Keeping Kit.
Once I adhered to my photo, I added all the floral stickers from the Denim and Blush Memory Keeping Sticker Kit around on the page and even added foam tape to a few of them to create extra dimension and interest.
For my title, which comes from a Simon & Garfunkel song, I used a mix of alpha stickers from the Denim and Blush Modern Memory Keeping Kit and a label from the Denim and Blush Classified: Memory Keeping Kit. The cascade of flowers on this page brings me so much joy. I hope you feel all the good vibes and happy creating!”
It is so neat that Ashley’s photo makes it appear as though she is peering at the cascade of flowers around her. We know that sometimes we have the tendency to hold onto elements we love, but Ashley reminds us that if you love it, use it. And, lucky for us, we can always use the Denim and Blush Printables if we happen to run out of those lovely florals!
