In November 2018 we asked Mary Akre to be our our guest designer, she has been a long time subscriber and has caught our eye because she uses fountain pens in her Cocoa Daisy inserts. Here is a little information about her and some of her photos from this past month:
My name is Mary Akre. I am a stay-at-home mom. My husband and I have been married for 30 years and we have 7 children and one very cute granddaughter. We also have two dogs who barely tolerate each other, which certainly makes life interesting. We live just 2 hours south of Cocoa Daisy headquarters in Michigan. One of my favorite things about Cocoa Daisy is seeing the beauty of Michigan reflected in the pages. Birch trees, owls, and beautiful birds are all part of everyday life here. Right now, the trees in my back yard match the colors in my planner, and I can hear an owl in the distance.”
“I have been a planner girl since the late 1980s. I started with Franklin Covey when it was still Franklin Quest, and used their planners for a long time. I eventually moved into spiral, week-at-a-glance, planners. My favorites were by Flavia. I was very grateful to find Cocoa Daisy in March of 2017. I love how everything is coordinated, with the planner pages, washi tape, stickers and extras all coordinating beautifully. I had never done any memory keeping before finding Cocoa Daisy. Now I use a Daisy Dori daily for personal memories and the pocket cards for family memory keeping. I have also gotten my three daughters using Cocoa Daily planning products, which has been very fun.”
“Ever since I was a little girl, my main hobby has been writing instruments, and in 2005, I found fountain pens. Over the past 13 years I have learned a lot about modern and vintage fountain pens. I love attending pen shows and am a member of the Pen Collectors of America. Combing the Cocoa Daisy kits with my love of pens and ink has been very fun. I hope to show you how to use various colors of ink with the Cocoa Daisy products.”
Mary, it was a pleasure to have you join us this month! Thank you so much for being a guest planner!
