Tips and Tricks with Jennifer

I am having so much fun creating with the Cocoa Daisy November Memory Keeping: 12×12 and Memory Keeping Pocket kits! This layout uses bits and pieces from both kits. To create the background grid for the base of this layout, you can see that I used some of the small cards that are included in the Pocket kit. I really enjoy creating grid backgrounds on my layouts when I know that the photos that I’m going to be using are minimal, or on the small side.

My tip for you, if you use a grid type style for the background on your own pages, is to not be too rigid when it comes to keeping a uniform style…it’s OK to break out of that grid a bit with your elements (embellishments that you use) and/or your photos or journaling. You can see on my layout I did all of the above.

I enlarged one of my photos so that it overlaps my grid, my journaling strips sneak off the grid and some of my little die-cuts and other embellishments go outside the lines of my grid as well. I feel it adds a bit of interest, and allows for your eye to travel thoroughly, across the page.

I also added some 3-dimensional adhesive to the back of both of my photos. Since my photos are on the smallish side, I thought this extra little pop would provide enough definition to stand out.

I hope you enjoyed this simple little design tip!
