August Letterpress Tips and Tricks

Happy humpday everyone! Suz here to share a few tips and tricks that came about during the creating with August’s Letterpress kits.

First up is this card I created for my dad who turns 85 years old this week!

So I wanted to use three of the exclusive puffy stars on my card design and place them in a visual triangle, each on its own individual circle.  The slight dilemma I encountered was that the circles I wanted to place them on weren’t full circles, so I remedied the situation by placing the puffy star circles each on a circle and then I simply trimmed off the excess parts of the stars! Easy peasy solution, right?!

For this card, I used a circle punch to make an opening and focal point for my card.  Then I stamped that adorable exclusive typewriter stamp onto some white card stock and fussy cut around it.  I wanted to coordinate the color of the typewriter with one of the colors of the diamond patterned paper at the base of my card, so after a few trials of colors with watercolor pencils, I finally instead decided to go with a pink Neocolor II watercolor pastel mixed with a bit of water applied with a small paintbrush.  For extra dimension, I raised the typewriter up off of the card with foam adhesive.  I really like the added dramatic effect it gives to the card and yet it still allows for the card to flatten down into an envelope for mailing to a loved one far away.

And hey, if you haven’t used all of those lovely little die cut exclusive tabs in your planner pages yet, save some for adding to some cards for little sentiment spots!!

Have an amazing week!
