It’s hard to believe that tomorrow is the first day of spring, especially when it’s still so cold here in the mitten. I think that is why I’m enjoying the March and April kits so much, plenty of pretty spring colors! Even though it’s cold here I’m excited about Spring arriving, because with Spring comes changes and rebirth. And this Spring that applies to not just mother nature but Cocoa Daisy too! You’ve seen our little logo tease, but that is just the beginning! We’re going to have a whole new look , I felt it was time to update Cocoa Daisy with a fresh, soft, and clean new look. Beginning in April you’ll see these new changes take place, from the logo, web site/store, to even the way your kits are packaged. And hallelujah our gallery will finally be updated as well!! With all these changes we couldn’t forget what really makes Cocoa Daisy what it is, so we will also be implementing a rewards system for our loyal customers as well. What won’t change is our amazing customer service, kits packed full of exclusives and the latest products, and our desire to share this wonderful hobby with all of you.
And speaking of sharing, I wanted to show you the gratitude mini album I started last weekend. I was inspired by Alissa’s IG posts using this very cool Collect app. I can snap a photo, add as much info as I want and the app keeps it all in a calendar format for me to go back to when I’m ready to print them. I was tired of trying to remember when a particular photo was taken and this app solves that problem. It also has a feature that will give you a little reminder each day to snap a photo for those of you trying to take a photo a day or if use your phone’s camera for Project Life. The final look is really fun too – they look like little desk calendar sheets. So, armed with my new app and all the fun, left over bits from March (and there were so many great bits perfect for making a mini album) I whipped up the beginning of my mini. I decided on a gratitude theme, I thought it would be a good way to direct how I look at my everyday. I’m not going to be rigid about having a photo in the album for every day, that would be exhausting, and I’m also not going to force myself to write much about each photo. I’m not a big writer, I’m more of short and sweet and to the point kind of person 🙂 So some days will have just the small caption on the photo and then other days I’ll add in a journaling card – NO RULES! The journaling cards from the Day in the Life kit are so perfect for mini albums so I used a bunch of those and I am also going to break down the album into sections by month (you can see the one for March peeking out – and on a side note the “months, years and bits” stamp set perfect for these tabs). The front cover is actually a bit of a sneak peek at the April kit, accept for the metal book plate – that was from my stash.
I always like to start my minis with a quote or intro page and I highlighted some of the areas of the text paper with the Pan Pastels from the March Project Art kit.
Every month the Day in the Life kit has a monthly reference card so that will work perfectly on my divider pages. I am so in love with that green CD paper from this month!!
Now it’s just a matter of adding my photos in and varying the page sizes for interest. The acetate sheets from the March Main kit work perfectly for this!
I added a journaling card in with a bit of extra journaling on the back. One of my favorite things about mini albums is creating these different layers and having other pages peek through.
I even like including pages that are just the size of the photo – I added a piece onto this one so it can be bound into the album without messing up the photo. When it’s all done I’m going to bind it with my Zutter binder.
Have a wonderful weekend!
