FALL CROP 2011 - CHALLENGE 15 REPURPOSED

I used some packaging in my design here (although not as bold - I'm a packaging newbie ;) )

The butterflies in the upper right came from the cardboard backing of a chipboard butterfly set, and the word 'love' was cut with my old sizzix die cutter with some backing from a package of Basic Grey yo-yos.

I will definitely being paying more attention to these little additions... thanks for opening my eyes!

I used Jenni Bowlin button packaging behind the photo.

We repurpose all the time. I love that packaging is so beautiful.

Some of my favorite packaging is from Piperlime (live in the boonies need to order cute stuff online, LOL) and I love the inside of their boxes and all the green so I keep it in a box. Well, Henry found my box of goodies! He made this card today. Man that kids loves buttons. I am going to need more!

Totally love this idea! I need to be more aware of what I'm throwing away. I'm going off to dig in my scrappy trash can. ;)

Here's my layout for this challenge:

Image

Here's a detailed shot of the flower:
Image

For the flower I used the acrylic packaging of some of Tim Holtz's embellies. I inked book pages with Distress Inks, glued the page to the underside of the packaging, passed it through Cuttlebug with Tim's Alternation Die Tattered Flower and assembled the flower using a pencil to curl the petals. In the center I used a Prima vintage button.
I also used a piece of Prima packaging on the left side of the page.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I created the pink splashes and the darker brown ones on the page melting crayons. Learned that trick from Mou Saha in Paris a year ago;)

This was Kristina's 8th birthday. I had ordered a huge cake for 25 people and then Kristina contracted rosolia (rubella, German measles) 2 days before her birthday. Had to cancel but the cake was already ordered so we had it made, took some pictures (Kristina has her pj pants but a cute top) and ate the cake for a WEEK!

I used a Sizzix sizzlet package to contain some dirt I brought to my husband when I was on a business trip. He is always looking for "good dirt" to build bike jumps on, and is very fond of his Virginia days.
