Off to GASC in Arlington

Postby Olivia » Tue Jun 05, 2007 6:16 pm

Can't wait. I'm dropping the kiddos off with the parents, leaving the husband to fend for himself and to make it through the mini basketball camp he is putting on while we are gone.
Thursday bright and early we are leaving to go to Arlington and the surrounding areas to shop shop shop. I am going to take a few classes Ranger Alcohol Ink, a Heidi Swapp, a Tinkering Ink, and a Luxe Designs, but most of my time will be spent in the huge convention center, like the size of a football field or two, being amazed by all the scrapbook stuff. What a way to spend the weekend! Great friends, scrapbook shopping and learning new stuff! SOOOO Excited!

Great American Scrapbook Convention. I have gone the past four years and I really enjoy it. The classes have always been pretty good, but they tend to offer the same stuff every year, so I'm running out of classes to take. But the great thing is that they have lots of (like tons) of scrapbook stuff for sale. The convention floor is HUGE and every inch of it is covered with different manufacturers and area scrapbook stores selling all sorts of scrap stuff. I think it is similar to a Creating Keepsakes Convention minus the super celebs.

It is the closest big scrap event for me (just three hours away), so until I can get to a CKU or a CKC, it will do.

There are also some lss we hit while we are in the Arlington area- a Recollections and this time we are going to the Scrap Bucket in Plano.

So super excited... Lots of cash to spend....Yeah ME!!

I had a great time at GASC. I learned how to use alcohol inks successfully and picked a class using the new Luxe Classic Black line. It was great.  I also visited the Rusty Pickle booth and spent a lot. There is no where to by Rusty Pickle stuff (especially their really cool chipboard albums) in Arkansas. Fontwerks was there this year also and I got a ton of acrylic stamps including the upper and lower case Steelfish alpha. I love them.

Recollections at Arlington was fab as always, even better after a large Margarita from On the Border.  We also stopped in Plano at the Scrap Bucket for the first time-- really cool place with buckets of all kinds of things to choose from. My friend Elizabeth can never find enough "e's" so she was able to buy a bunch there because all the package of alpha's are poured into the buckets so you can dig through and get what you need.
