Weekly Chat - 06/18- 06/24

Postby Funky Fairy » Mon Jun 18, 2012 2:56 am

Morning!!!

How was the weekend?
It felt rather busy here.

I hosted my own workshop for the first time near me.
I was really fun and went really well.
I baked a couple of Blueberry/Vanilla Yoghurt loaves, Mini Black Forest Gateux CupCakes and Spiced Pumpkin and Cream Cheese CupCakes the night before to take.
We did Art Journals. So much fun and a lovely group of ladies.

Yesterday we hung out at the Hotel where we are members.
We swam, then we went into the pub there. It's got a real family/cozy feel. Log fires, TV screens, big cozy chairs and sofas.
They were doing a promotional weekend and we didn't realise that it was 40% off all food. Bargain!!
We had 40 bbq wings, fries and onion rings :)
Then we chilled out in the hotel lobby in the oversized chairs. We all had books with us and we had Starbucks hot drinks and cakes :) :) :)
We spent so long there.
Then came home and watches the 5th Harry Potter and yet again I fell asleep.

Louis has a teacher trainer day today so no school.
We are popping in town for a few bits and a wander.

See you later.

Lisa your weekend sounds lovely. So glad your class went well and your time at the Hotel sounds so nice. Just relaxing and fun.

I had the whole weekend off so it was awesome. :) Bill and I went to the farmer's market on Saturday and rode our bikes. we did some housework, grocery shopping, etc and then last night had my sister and brother in law over for dinner for father's day. The kids all showed up at different times. It was lovely. I feel like I did a lot of cooking and baking this weekend.

Work today and then I am hoping to get some scrapping in. I have my new kit and lots of ideas just seems like the day/night gets eaten away!

Lisa, you are making me hungry with all that food talk!!!

I am swamped this week. With leaving for vacation on Saturday for 5 days, I have all of my scrapbooking stuff and items at work that need finished up and closed out before I leave. It's so weird to leave work on 6/21 and not return until July 2. I'm freaking out that I'm going to forget something.

Can't wait for the time away though. Already bought a new bathing suit and am ready to be in the sunshine with my Kindle!

Sounds bliss Diana. Have a lovely time :)

Did you scrap Denise?

Ade's just left for Dublin for 2 nights with work.
I'm so pathetic. Sobbed as soon as I shut the door.
Feel so lost now.
I don't like being without him :(

I hope these 2 days will go by really quickly Lisa! *hugs*

It sounded like you had a very nice weekend - both with the teaching and the time spent at at he hotel. :)

I hope you'll have a lovely time away Diana! :)

Your weekend sounds lovely too Denise! You're often talking about the Farmer's market, it sounds so nice.

We're finally feeling better from the Danish cold. :) Linus has lots of tennis this week, 3 hours/day Mon-Thur. Tomorrow a friend and former collegue of mine is visiting, with her 3 months old baby. I'm really looking forward to that! :) Then my brother is getting married on Saturday. Friday is Midsummer and my mother will come here, so that she can ride with us to the wedding on Saturday. They're getting married on an island in the archipelago outside Stockholm, so we have to take a ferry that takes about an hour to get there. I can't help but thinking that it's a bit complicated... :P first 1,5 hours or something in the car, and then the ferry for another hour. All with the 3 kids and my mother who is quite poorly because of her MS. Hopefully it'll be ok. I think my brother said he has arranged with a weelchair for our mother on the island, because she wouldn't be able to walk all the way from the boat to the church. Hopefully it will be a wonderful day! :)

Tonight I'm meeting my friends to scrap again. Not sure if I'll scrap, though. I got to try some new "tex mex tapas products" and I'm planning to make some tapas for my friends. :)

How is everyone Anna?
That food sounds good.

Did you scrap much Denise?

It's 7.10pm here, just about to walk the dog with the kids.
I do miss Ade for something :)

The tapas were nice. :) The best were fried tortillia bread with brie cheese and some vegetarian escabeche (corn, olives, pepper, and sundried tomatoes)... or the same bread dipped in chocolate and shredded coconut.

My friend and her 3 months old baby visited today and it was really nice to see her. Tuva was in a strange mood though, and was a bit unhappy.

Tonight I've been struggling some with the speach for my brother's wedding. Today I'm feeling that I can't do it. I think I'll just wish them a happy life together and tell them that I'm happy for them. I was trying to come up with something more, but I think I'll have to give up... :P

Hello!

We're in the last week of school here, but as my students were not picked for oral exams, they've had the whole week off. The teachers, on the other hand, have been busy planning for next year. As a matter of fact, it's 1:50am and I'm sat here making the Google Docs with our year plans.

I'm also nursing a cold and plan on staying home from work tomorrow. There's nothing going on and since I've done my part in getting the plans done tonight, I have no qualms doing so. Will go to the end of year-ceremony of Friday, though, hoping some of my seniors will show up!

I hope everyone's having a good week :)

Guess what I just heard... my brother got married today...! :o The wedding is on Saturday, and he called me just now to tell me that they got married today, because the priest (or what ever is the rigth name for him/her) that will be taking care of the ceremony in the church on Saturday (and who is a friend of my brother's girlfriend... I mean wife...! :o ) isn't allowed to lawfully wed them. Therefore they had to do it the leagal way too. :)

Margrethe - I hope that cold wont' be bad...! Have a nice ceremony tomorrow!

Margrethe I hope your cold is better. Will you have time off this summer or do you still have school or other work?

Anna, are you still struggling with speaking at the wedding? He will love your for trying no matter what you end up saying!

Scrapped again last night and then tried to watch Sherlock Holmes with the boys last night but could not keep my eyes open. I slept like the dead. finding it a bit hard to get moving this morning.

more coffee :)

Denise, I'm feeling much better. Went to bed at 8pm last night - I think I needed that.

I'll have the summer off this year. I wrote my MA thesis last summer when off work, so it'll be a "challenge" to have 7 weeks off! We hope to build a terrace, though, so there should be stuff to do. I also have a few DT-assignments that needs to be done throughout the summer ;)

I am SO GLAD it is Friday! I'm going to a little retreat with some friends of mine starting right after work today! I just need to pack up my stuff and head out of town. The house is wayyyy out in the country, it's a gorgeous drive to get there. I'm looking forward to seeing the stars! And crafty/girl time, of course.
