Step #4

Using the mask you made in step 2, stamp with Versamark into square #8 and emboss with a color of your choice. I used American Crafts' ZING in Pewter.



Now your project should look like this, of course not exactly the same, because you most likely don't have the same products I do (BUT you can if you order the same kits I did!):



You can erase all the lines at this point, if you feel comfortable with free forming the rest of the project. The squares you've already added will support the grid just fine now, but if you are nervous, erase as you continue to add more elements.

Step #5

Now you're going to step out on your own with grace and style. Take your 3-5 different papers and cut 9–2x2 squares. If you've got a 2x2 square punch, even better. I need to get one of those...

Arrange the squares on your background, leaving one last square empty. Move things around until you like how it looks. There is no right or wrong way to do this step. You should have one extra square. Save it for the next step.



Once you are happy with the placement, adhere.

and gosh denise, i honestly don't know, i just ink it up good, press hard, hope it covered to whole image, and sprinke the embossing powder on. that's when i know if it works or not.

Step #6

With that last square, you'll use a circle punch (I used my Martha Stewart Punch All Over the Place Pinked Circle punch, it's a 1.5 inches diameter circle. You can use a regular circle punch, just keep it about the same size.) and punch out the center of the square.

Add both the circle and the square sans circle to your design, the latter will layer over another of the squares. Use adhesive foam to make them 3D, but don't adhere yet.

Now start adding your embellishments, you'll want to move things around, take things off, add a few, take away a few, whatever looks right to you.

here's my final post, i'm heading out for a few hours, i'll check back when i get home if you have any questions.

Step #8

Finishing touches. This will be different for everybody, but I added some twine to frame a few of the squares, some leaves to the flowers, another little flower, and trimmed one of the squares with brown felt. It still needed a little bit more, so I punched a few little butterflies and added some words using the Prima alpha stickers in Watercolor Path. If you're on the fence about that add on, I'd strongly recommend it. I loved it! If you are quick to spot the "what's wrong with this picture" kind of games, you'll notice I took out the "Create Everyday" die cut, it just didn't look right.



Last thing you'll need to do is insert the artwork into the frame, and then enjoy!
