SPRING CROP: 7 PM PATCHWORK PICNIC BLANKETS CLASS

Hi guys! Are you ready?

In this class, we'll go over a number of fun techniques and make a piece of artwork that will resemble a patchwork blanket you might use for picnicking.

You'll need the following supplies:
• frame to hold an 8"x10" piece of artwork
• white cardstock, cut to 8"x10"
• adhesive (liquid, tape runner, and pop dots)
• pencil and eraser
• adhesive eraser
• zero center ruler (helpful but not necessary)
• one coordinating mist
• scratch paper
• stencil (I used Blazonry from TCW)
• waterproof black pen (I used Uni-ball Vision Micro)
• paint
• paintbrush
• Versamark
• stamp of your choice
• stamp block
• embossing powder
• heat gun
• 3-5 different patterned papers that you like together. Small designs work well.
• 1.5" circle punch
• 3 small flowers (1.5" or so)
• wooden butterfly
• die cut or small strip of paper to make a banner
• small bits of paper, felt, or other small embellishments
• twine
• butterfly punch (optional)

OK, go!

Step #1

Cut down a sheet of white cardstock to 8 x 10 inches.

Disclaimer: I am not at all into being exact. I'm giving you permission to be the same for this project. It's mostly straight, but it's not important to be rigid about your measuring and cutting!

With your zero center ruler, on the horizontal, mark a the 1" and 3" on both sides, then lightly draw out three vertical lines, as shown in the picture.

Image

Now on the vertical, mark at the 0", 2" and 4" on both sides and draw out your horizontal lines, you should have 4 of these, see picture.

Emily, I am not seeing any photos. Maybe it's just my computer, I have had troubles this week.

Well, since no one is begging for more time, here's:

Step #2

Squares are now numbered for sake of convenience only. You don't have to number your's.

Image

Make a mask using scratch paper (adhere pieces of paper to each other so you have a 2x2 square) and mask off the top left square (#1) with scrap paper. Mist with your desired color. Save your mask, you'll need it in a minute.

OK, you'll need a few minutes for this one to dry...

Step #3

In square #12, the bottom right square, trace a stencil with a waterproof pen.

Use paint (I mixed watercolor and white acrylic paint) to fill in the stencil.
