Did you have any on going illnesses or problems as a child?

I was pretty lucky.
I didn't suffer with asthma or excema as a child and nothing serious.
I did always have ear ache though and was always in and out of doctors and hospitals.
I still remember the pain now and not knowing what to do with myself.
I used to like pressing the sore ear hard on the sofa at the far end of the family room.
I think it was colder on that sofa.
Funny the things you remember.
Thankfully I grew out of it.

Nope, I was a healthy kid. Barely missed any school even for sick days. My brother, though, had really bad asthma and was often rushed to the hospital in the middle of the night. That was always scary.

I had lots of urinary tract infections and I also wet my bed at night for quite a long time. They tried different things, like this horrible metallic "mat", that you placed under your sheet and if you peed an alarm set off, to wake you up. :P I also remember when they were doing a checkup on me at the hospital, to see if everything was physiologically correct. I was anaesthesized and I remember the smell before going to sleep and I also remember throwing up afterwards and that the nurse was so rude when my mother asked for help, because according to her it wasn't possible for me to throw up, since I hadn't eaten. ::)

Oh my gosh Anna, that sounds absolutely horrid! :o I'm interested in learning more about what ended up happening though because I have a friend that is dealing with the same issue regarding her son and was actually recommended that alarm as well but she was thinking against it due to the cost. I'll share with her that it was awful as well! Her child's dr. is recommending medication...did you get prescribed something or did you just grow out if it naturally?

Anyways...I was pretty healthy as a child too, I had hernia surgery when I was 2 and then was never in the hospital again for anything and never in the clinic for anything that was re-occurring. Zoey's had some issues with her skin and her immune system isn't 100% but we've figured out what the issue is and we're making the best of it.

I don't remember that much Jen, but I know we didn't use the alarm-thing for very long, because my parents didn't like it either. :) I think it was supposed to wake you up so that you could stop and go to the bathroom, but I think that was too difficult for me. When the alarm woke me up it was already too late. :P

I'm not sure if they tried any medication. I don't think so - I think it just got better as I got older!

I hope things will get better for your friend! How old is her son?

Anna, that's awful :(

I'm guessing kids just end up growing out of it, even if some are older.
Do you ever hear of an adult bed wetting?
