I always loved it, and when I eventually got my own home, I started dropping hints that maybe it could be mine one day. I got it sooner than I expected! as mum decided she didn't want it in their lounge any more. Yay!
The chap who made it was the church organist and choir master (I sang in the choir), he was my brother's clarinet teacher, and he taught me to play the church organ for a while. He is also an amazing woodworker, and used to make medieval instruments, as well as furniture. My brother commissioned him to make a similar one for his wife, who's also very musical - he taught her the clarinet too.
It stands next to my scrap desk (I've pulled it out here to photograph it better), and since I rarely use it for music, I use it to display my latest layouts!
What a great story! Love that! And it is a perfect venue for showcasing your latest scrappy creations!
