Family Support

Postby Funky Fairy » Thu Apr 26, 2012 5:52 am

I was wondering with the crop weekend coming up, do your family support and 'get' this hobby of your's?

I feel very lucky that I'm supported 100% of the way.
Ade totally gets it and for example this weekend wouldn't question why I want to wpend the whole weekend in my studio. He's happy to sort the kids and has offered to cook Saturday night so I don't have to worry about it.
I think this is the main reason I love him ;D

I've also been teaching a fair bit lately. Hollie came up to me last week and told me how cool she thinks it is and how proud she is of me.
Really meant alot.

I also feel that my hubby understands how important this is for me, he really understand that it makes me happy to do something creativ and that it makes me happier in everything else I do.

He has never thought that it is expencive or anything, he compare it to his inteest in cars and other motordriven interests and compared to that, this is really cheep ;D

For the most part my hubby is pretty supportive....I go to crops once or twice a month and he keeps the kids all day. I probably spend more than I should, and he is very good about it. He even told me a few weeks ago that he regularly visits my blog when he is at work and I had no idea.....

I can't say that my family 'gets it', but they do understand that it makes mommy very happy to do this crop all weekend.

Bill is totally supportive of my hobby. He even encouraged me to open up a scrapbooking store for goodness sake! My boys think it's pretty cool too. I feel very very lucky. I know that Bill is happy that I have something that makes me feel so good.

Dave's happy for me to scrap/blog whatever.
The problem is me... I feel guilty when I am doing something when everyone is home or when I spend money. I feel the the frowns... not sure if they are real or in my head lol
So usuaully I don't scrap/spend too much time online when everyone is home.

I have to say the only one that really gets my hobby is my (ex) husband. He has always supported me through it even now, but, it's the big Army/Navy rugby here in the Uk this weekend and he isn't back to look after the boys so I can scrap.....so obviously his hobby over rules mine :o :-\

my husband is AWESOME and perfect for me, but he does wish i'd be a neater scrapper, my room is a mess. a whole weekend of scrapping, but from the home, doesn't make a lot of sense to him, he'd rather spend the time with me and the kids. he's not a jerk about it at all, but i won't be here all weekend. he's leaving for a week+ trip to france and the netherlands on monday, i've been in TX until last night, he was in san diego last weekend, he landed as i was taking off. i need some family time :)

I do...I still need to step away and take care of some of the family/life things here and there throughout (which I want to do anyways) but for every crop here at Cocoa Daisy I've been able to make it a weekend event and their has never been any issues!! :)

That is so awesome Denise! You should take him up on that offer of opening a store! :) I could come and work for you then. ;)

My husband is totally supportive. I also feel guilty when I spend money or time on scrapbooking, but that comes from me, not him. And every once in a while he actually says, "thanks for doing this," because he recognizes and appreciates that I'm writing all these stories about our kids and us as a family.

My kids are usually fine too. They like to tease me about my scrapbooking too, which is fine with me. Like on a recent Friday night, when I couldn't take pictures (because it was the Sabbath), I saw my son whisper something to my husband, and then they both smiled. Then my son started being very affectionate; putting his arm around my husband, or just leaning on him. Basically my son came up with a plan to be really sweet and affectionate, just because he knew I couldn't photograph or scrap it.

I'm happy for you ladies! Must feel soooo GOOD! My hubby is not interested or supportive at all. :( But I'm a big girl and I can take care of my self >:D , but I do need to compromize quite a bit. Which makes especially crops a bit difficult since it's so inspiring and one wants to scrap the whole weekend. Which will never happen. But I get my share and I'm happy about the extended deadline for the Cocoa Daisy crop - which is THE best Crop around!
