Summer plans?

Postby StephanieEloise » Mon May 14, 2012 8:40 pm

Is everyone getting ready for summer? Anyone have any fantastic plans?

We keep it low-key in the summer since it's so flippin' hot, but this year I may be a volunteer camp counselor at the camp I used to go to, and Bo and I are going to Portland and Seattle in August!

What are you up to?

we've got a packed summer with the kids going to a youth conference at BYU right after school gets out, then a 10 day trip to Great Britain, mostly in Wales, but a few days in London. Then July brings CHA, camps for both kids and somewhere in there, my sister is planning a wedding! It's going to be a crazy summer :) but that's ok.

Stephanie, the camp sounds fun.

Emily, that's busy!!
Remind me to email you my number...just in case :)

Summer for me is my busiest work time. I don't get to see much of the out doors.
Weathers been crap these past few years, so I don't feel like I miss out.

Dad is visiting from the US though in Aug for a few days so that should be good.
And then when the kids go back to school in Sept we will be on count down for our Orlando trip in October :) :) :) That'll get me through the summer.

A friend and I are going to take our girls to The American Girl Place in Minneapolis in June and check out museums and the Aquarium, etc. as well while there. Z's birthday party with friends will be in June. July we have family coming up for a week and there will be camping and stuff like that planned. We're also trying to fit in some travel to Bayfield to see my mom and her husband. I'm going to a country concert in July with an old girlfriend...it's kind of become an annual tradition to go together and it's SO good for me to take some time away from the family too and just be "me" again you know what I mean? :) I'm also working at the Montessori summer camp again this summer which will mean I'll be super busy!! Zoey's got a dance camp one week in August...our summer is CRAZY but always fun!! ;D There will be lots of free time spent at the beach as always.

Stephanie, how hot does it get where you are living?

My plans for this summer ...work...LOL...and a bit pleasure. I just booked my flights for July - first Canada, teaching workshops and then I will head out from there to Chicago for CHA and then I will fly to New Jersey to see my family and then I will- YIPPEAH visit an Mixed Media Event as a student...YESS!!! LOL. And then I fly home to Germany.
My hubs and I have planned a little late summer vacation around my Rome Workshops in September....his vacation is not confirmed yet- I so hope it works out.

Oh, you guys have so much plans :D I´m attending a few workshops and seminars with dogtraining and later on this summer we´re thinking of going to Prag or maybe to Germany. My hubbie is from Berlin but he doesn´t want to go there, says it´ll be no vacation or fun for him cause he has seen everything..so i guess it´´ll be Prag then ;)
Me and my 3 girls are planning a "girls trip" to London with lots of shopping and cupcakes, i´m so looking forward to that! And then there´s my birthday..i´m 50 this year and maybe i´ll throw a BIG party, haven´t decided that yet but i think so. In july Marie/Mison and her family is coming to visit me and that will be soooo nice :D

hmm..i guess i had lots of plans too.. O0

Nat - it can get up to 100 or more, usually it stays in the 90's though. The bad part about living in the South is the humidity. It can be 70 and feel suffocating if the humidity is high.

Sounds like everyone has some great summer plans! We were supposed to be at a lake cabin in the end of June with my in-laws, but we lost that rental to someone who was willing to pay more for it! I think the "I had it first" rule should apply but nope, outbid with no chance to re-bid. Sounds fishy to me! We'll do something that week though, even if it is a day trip to Ohio or something.

Lots of baseball plans for us all summer. We go to AAA games all the time and love our time at the ball park.

We don't have anything too fabulous planned - just our usual "hang out at the golf course and the pool" action. I hate to say it, because I sound like a spoiled brat, but it gets a bit old. LOL. By mid-summer, I am literally praying for a rainy day so I can justify staying home and catch up on things. With our short summers, and brutal winters, I feel guilty if I keep them home on nice days though. I don't think we are going on any trips this summer - we usually try to travel in the winter when it is cold here (we escape to warmer weather). :)

Marti I just noticed you are from Cheyenne. I am in Missoula, Montana. Not exactly close but Rocky MT. west right?

Marja, you are so lucky to see Marie this summer! and she lucky to see you. :)

Not so many plans here. Work and enjoy the good weather on the weekends. It is gorgeous here in the summer time. No humidity and blue skies. It almost makes up for the cloudy winters! There is a lot to do. We fish, go to the lake, ride bikes, go tubing in the river. We have family with all kinds of cabins that we visit for the weekends. It is really nice. Farmer's market every Saturday. pretty lucky!

We are in the same time zone so I consider that close. :) mle is just a bit south of me and I get to see her every once in a while (but not often enough).

Lot's of fun plans going on for everyone...!!!! :)

We don't have that much planned, but we're leaving for Denmark and Legoland right after school finishes, in the middle of June. We'll also visit one of J's brothers on our way to Denmark and then we'll stay one night with my cousin and her family on our way home.

Then my brother is getting married, in the end of June... but other than that we'll make the plans as we go. Johan and I are both off from the beginning of June until the end of August and I hope we'll do lots of fun things with the kids... I am so happy and grateful that we're able to get that much time together...! :)

sounds like you all have some very busy summers on tap.

it won't be as busy here.
planning a girls trip to seattle for a weekend.
a scrapbooking garage sale in july or august.
a wedding in july to attend and photograph.
the fair in august. (my favorite summer activity)
and, lots of day activities with the hubby and my bestie and her kids. (picnics, hikes, beach trips, etc)

i don't envy you, Steph. I was in chattanooga in may a few years ago and it was miserable! raining and high 70's is NOT my idea of fun!

i'm jealous that you get to visit portland. our annual girls trip to portland this month was cancelled due to my one friend did not have a weekend on her calendar. i would definitley LOVE to get down there this fall, though. portland is my favorite city of all time!
