Hybrid LO and Instructions

by anja_wade on Sat Jun 07, 2008 7:37 pm

Hi Everyone!
I wanted to share a hybrid LO I just finished using Cocoa Daisy's June Kit Gazebo and Posh Picnic, a Digital Scrapbook Kit by Brooke Rochon and Marissa Carranza of Dreaming with Pixels.
Image
I used the digital kit in a couple different ways here. I printed 2x2 squares of patterned paper from the Posh Picnic digi kit and also cut some 2x2 squares from paper from Gazebo. I used the 2x2 squares to make a quilt-like grid on my cardstock.
Image
I also resized the deep aqua plastic frames from Posh Picnic (loved those!) so they were 2" tall and printed three of them. I cut them out and used them to house little embellishments (Amy Butler stickers) and bits of journaling.
I opened the photo I wanted to use and resized it, then using layers, I placed a journaling spot from Posh Picnic over part of it. I re-colored the swirly part of the journaling spot to match the LO. Then I added thin strips of solid blue paper from Posh Picnic along the sides of the picture and printed out the whole thing.
Image
I finished the LO off with stitching, pearls from the Gazebo kit and a title (too bad I ran out of Ws and As from the Amy Butler alphas - they would have been cute here!)
Has anyone else had a chance to try a project with the digi kit? If so, let's see 'em! :D

*edit* The main pic of the LO is a little cut off - the entire LO is here...

anja-

where do you get the digital kit? I try to stay away from digital because I work on a computer all day, but it could be fun to do this challenge!

I love this Anja. Very cool mix of the elements. One thing I like to do because I hate cutting around the elements personally, is I decide where I want it to be such as you putting the frames on the swatch of paper and I would then print it onto that piece of paper and then cut the square out. But, that's just my 2 cents.

Sandy, I agree with you, I spend my entire day strapped to my computer, but I find that hybrid fulfills both of my needs to use my printer and my regulars paper supplies.

I'm glad you guys like it!
Sandy, if you go to the store, you will see the kit in the June section, right under the paper kit.
Brooke, that's a good tip - next time I'll try that!

I love your LOs Marissa!

And I think they illustrate perfectly how hybrid scrapping can be more on the traditional paper end, like mine, or more on the digi end, like yours. There's such a wide range of possibilities!

You said it girl! Hybrid is an open bridge between two worlds. You can take whatever you like when you crossover and when you come back ;)

Marissa, Anja...your L.O's are wonderfully inspiring! What a great job of incorporating both traditional paper & digi! If this doesn't get the girls amped to try it, I don't know what will!

*lol* Thank you Kim! Yes, I agree - It's definitely fun to experiment with new techniques. And I love working again with real papers and 3d embellishments. It's inspired me to want to make another Add-on to the Posh Picnic kit...I'm in the process of making more quickpages, that fit the shape of the Making Memories Noteworthy album (woops, did i just reveal that!) :D
