Faux Stitching Tutorial

Hi guys!  Emily S. here. :)

Stitching has become a HUGE trend in the scrapping world.  You can hand stitch or use a sewing machine.  However, I admit, I am often too lazy to do these things!!  With a new baby at home, it’s difficult to find the time to scrap, let alone the time to stitch on my projects!  This quick and easy tip will help you achieve the *look* of stitching on your work!

Tools: Thin foam, push pin, hole template (if you have one), pen.

Steps:

Get ready. :)   Take the piece of paper that you want to be “stitched” and set it on top of the foam.

If you have a template, set it on top of the paper.  Use a pin to poke holes in the paper. My template is from Stampin’ Up.  If you do not have a template, you can just as easily poke the holes freehand.

When you are finished you should have a line of holes in your paper.

Using a pen, bascially just connect the dots!  You can experiment with a thicker or thinner pen. I ended up using a Sharpie because it worked best over the glitter on the paper.

And…that’s it!  Quick and easy!! :) If you are using a template it would be very easy to create zig zag stiching, while freehand you could make some great shapes and designs!

I’d love to see your take on the Faux stitching!!

that is sooo cool!! I have always done faux stiching without the paper piercing which looks soooo realistic!!!

  2. I would love to know where you found the hole template. I have looked and never
found one that had the tiny holes like this. I would love to have one! This is
a great tutorial! Thanks so much!
