Feeling a Little Arty?

I don’t about you, but sometimes I feel like I just need to reach for the messy stuff.

The paints, inks, mists….they all just need to come out. I don’t always have a plan in my head and that’s part of the fun. I just like to experiment, have fun and play.

After seeing Anna’s ‘Project Art’ blog post (with video demo here) last month, minutes later I was reaching for my paints and brayer. It just got me in that creative mood and I created this background and later added the photos and journaling.

I started by added some acrylic paint to the centre of my bazzill and then moving it about and around with a brayer. So theraputic! Like I said before, no plan in mind, just playing. Once it was dry I then added some misting too.

I find this kind of scrapbooking so different to paper scrapbooking. I tend to find when scrapping with my papers and embellishments, I’m scrapping with photos and stories in mind. I have a goal, a plan and I know roughly what I’m going to achieve. I like having bits and pieces all laid out in front of me. But when creating with paints and mists, I’m creating this way because this is the way my mood is taking me. Then once dry, the rest then takes shape.

I’ve loved some of the other arty LO’s in our gallery this month.

Look at this amazing background by Anna. The paints mixed in with the stamping and stitching. I love the texture.

I love the green paint that Denise added to her patterned paper background here. By using the triangle stamp from this months main kit over and over she’s created such an interesting effect. I love the randomness here. I wonder if this was how Denise had planned it or did it just happen?

There’s something about Jaime’s artyness that still has a clean feeling to it. The misting here is stunning, but it’s the black ink splodges that caught my eye.

And our sweet Sharmaine. Another one of us that isn’t afraid to get her fingers dirty. Look at these hearts. Sharmaine used one of the die cut hearts from an addon as a mask. If you missed this, Sharmaine shows you how to create this background here.

There is alot to be said for loosing yourself in art. If you haven’t tried it, then give it ago. It’s such a good feeling.

Have a wonderful and creative weekend.

Love from the girl with pink paint stained fingers.
