The Compass Add-On

One of my favourite Add-ons for April is this one, called Compass. The colors, embellishments and tools in this one are just so fun and easy to use to make a great layout!

I squealed at the chance to play with this one and here’s what I did.

First, I painted the Donna Downey Stamp with some lovely Willow Color from the Adirondack Dabbers.

Then, stamp it like you would a normal stamp. But, you have to gently massage the stamp down so that it gets ‘stamped’ on to the cardstock – it is quite a large stamp so just lightly pressing will not be enough to get your image to fully stamp.

This is my image after stamping. Notice how the ridges from the uneven paint shows? I quite like that textured effect. It definitely makes the piece more ‘real’. Let it dry.

Use a thicker marker to outline parts of the image. I’ve used a Chocolate color to bring out the green on the Kraft cardstock. I didn’t outline the WHOLE image, but more just some parts. To give a dimensional effect.

Then embellish as you like. I added my photos, and the fun text ‘dreams’ from the chipboard set. Using the Pink Paislee brads, I attached them inside the Webster Pages flowers to make it stand out a bit more. I later added some pearls to the flowers and under the word ‘dreams’.

I also played with some of the glitter chipboard (also in that AC pack) and added some more ‘flowers’ to the flower branched that I stamped earlier. The pearls are a great effect for the centre of the flowers!

The butterfly from Prima in this add-on comes with a fun clip that you can attach easily to a ribbon. Secure with a glue dot, just in case :).

I painted the edges of the Kraft cardstock and finished up my journaling, which I styled into two columns. Voila! All done. Easy, and so much fun to make.

Have fun and don’t forget to show us what YOU do with your Compass Add-on for April!! Check out the rest of the April kit here.

xoxo,
