This morning we woke to a hint of sunlight.  That’s an unusual occurrence in Oregon during the winter but even more so this year than most.  We decided we needed to take advantage of the weather to get the dog a walk and the kids some fresh air.  We decided to go to a local walking path so that Jack could ride his bike (our neighbor is way to hilly for that).  Then Scott decided that we should also let Alice ride her trike as it’s the kind with the handle on the back. We should have stuck to the neighborhood.

So we bundle the kids up in their snowsuits, get everything in the car and head over.  Everything is going just peachy.  The kids are both have a great time.  Hannah is happily sniffing other dogs and Scott and I are enjoying the nice weather and just moving.  (Work out #1 for the month).  Then about a mile into the walk, Jack’s training wheels start to get all whonky.  Scott tries to bend them back in place but without much success.  Another half mile on, as Jack is going down a sizeable hill, one of his pedals comes flying off.  Poor kid almost ate it!  Scott tried to fix that too, but without a wrench it wasn’t going anywhere.  So, determined to get a good walk in we abandon the bike (Corvallis was just named the safe city in the US so we can do that here) and kept going.  About another half mile on our handle for pushing Alice’s bike broke off!  I guess that nice long easy walk was not meant to be!  So there we were, each carrying a bike, carrying their helmets, trying not to get tangled up in the dog’s leash, urging the kids on and then finally carrying Alice too for the last half.  We were getting quite a few stares from passers-by.  I thought the whole thing was hysterical!  Scott was not amused.

Lesson learned: do not buy cheap kids’ bikes!

I’ve managed to sneak a few hours of scrapbooking in during the wee hours of the last couple of nights.  Whenever I get going, I always remember, “Wow!  This is seriously fun!”  I’m making a fun little acrylic album using the Hambly Clearly Thick overlay from one of the add-ons this month.  I think it’s turning out pretty cute!  I’ll post when, and if, I finish it!

So, are you watching the game today?  I think I’m going to take a few hours to scrapbook and watch the Law and Order marathon.  I might have to check out the commercials though….
