Hi everyone, Kim here with a little peek into a new mini-book I’ve been working on. After a few months of kits I always go back a look over the papers that I didn’t use or might have overlooked. I usually find some new color inspiration. For this mini I decided to use a few of the blue papers I found as a start and a pack of recipe cards from my stash. I love to use tags, postcards, and recipe cards as my base because of their standard size.
The fun thing about mini-books to me is finding and making all sorts of fun eye-catching things to include. For instance the page above I splattered some blue watercolor on several plain cards and then layered them for a artsy journal effect and then layered even more on top of that. It turned out to be just a very artistic page with some journaling added and a little doodling.
Some pages you can just have fun with and others may be more structured. I try not to stick to any kind of format and just do what comes natural. And I love my tiny attacher because I can just staple on all kinds of papers strips and fabric bits. You can attach ribbons and little scraps of paper.
Normally what I like to do is pick one color and then find maybe two more that go really well. For this one along with the blues I added a little beige and gold. It’s not all done yet though. My intentions are to include all sorts of photos of me and my son. I’ll hopefully have the full mini completed to post soon!
Here’s another awesome mini-book by design team member Alissa! I love how she took advantage of all the tid-bits in the july kits!
Here’s my mini created with the July kits. I used a 6×12 piece of chipboard and a binding mechanism from Tim Holtz to create the binder.
And, since this is a birthday mini and the July kits are full of summer themed items, I had to get creative.
Thanks for stopping in today and have a great weekend!
