Tales from the Bunker: September edition.

Each month I thought it would be fun to let you in on some of the behind the scenes happenings here at the Cocoa Daisy bunker, something interesting always happens when it’s shipping time! But first I should probably explain to you why we call it the “bunker”. 80% of all the Cocoa Daisy kit work happens in one room down in my basement. When I bought this house last summer I specifically looked for a house with a large basement and a room I could dedicate to all things kit related. Well this house fit that perfectly. I have a nice big basement and separate room to work on the kits. I had my brother install lots of big shelves and he even created some cool leg extenders for the tables so that our backs aren’t so sore when we pack kits. Well after having spent most of each day in this one room for the last year I have discovered it to be very dark and sadly a bit depressing! It only has one daylight basement window and a low ceiling – so it has been dubbed the “Bunker” a rather appropriate name. But I have some good news, across from the bunker is another room – originally intended as the boys playroom, but they never use it and it has TWO large windows, beautiful light and a higher ceiling! So the bunker has been delegated to kit packing and shipping and all the other work will now be done in my new office. I am working on getting it decorated and I will share pictures of it when it is done. For now though here is a picture of the Bunker (I couldn’t show you too much of the bunker, wouldn’t want you to see product for upcoming kits :) ):

Now that you know what the Bunker is, here are a couple things that happened this month. First I hope you all love the little fabric yo-yos that are in this months kit as much as I do! My Mother and Aunt made them, they are both very talented quilters and seamstresses.

Also this month don’t be surprised if your Cocoa Daisy box looks a little different. I loved how the new design looked when all the boxes were stacked up:

That’s about it from the bunker for now.
Have a great week!
Christine

Guess where Cocoa Daisy was featured!

In the special Budget Friendly Scrapbooking edition of Creating Keepsakes that’s where!

I was asked last spring to send them a kit and a layout created from the kit (thank you Ronda for the awesome layout) to feature in an article about kit clubs. I was so thrilled! I sent them a “Vintage Ink” kit -one of my favorites!

Hope you are all having a great week.
Christine

September Gallery Lift

Hi Ladies.  Can you believe it’s September already? Where did the summer go?  I am a little sad that it’s almost over although for some of us, summer is coming soon.  Those of us down under like this lady Gina.   Gina has such a fabulous, messy style that I love.  Paint, mists, little scraps of paper and she puts it all together so beautifully.  I saw this in the gallery last week.

Everything feels so random and magical but it’s hard to do this and have it not look like a mess.  I really loved how she used a larger photo and how she placed it with strips of paper on a grid.  I also love the random collection of things on the left of the photo and wanted to duplicate that same feel.

I am always up for paint and mists and used the gorgeous blue agave mist by Maya Road that came in this past months add ons.  FYI if you don’t know this tip, to create the larger drips from the mist, I unscrew the cap and take the spray top and just flick the end of the tube onto my page.  That’s what gives the larger splashes.

Thanks Gina for always giving me such wonderful inspiration!
