Hybrid mini album

By:      comments (3)

I really love all the wonderful digital scrapbook supplies available and I have been collecting freebies for quite some time now. It’s a perfect way of getting hold of enough basic supplies to be able to explore the digital world and learn more about digital and hybrid scrapbooking. I’ve also bought a few kits every now and then, and I’ve felt quite bad about never really using them. I don’t think I could ever abandon creating with paper. I love to use my hands and to experiment with paint and glue, but my goal has been to create more hybrid projects.

When I got the June kit and saw the beautiful book covers from 7gypsies, I got the idea to create a hybrid mini album about me and my life right now. I used a digital template from Karla Dudley Designs (http://www.thedigichick.com) and some fabulous patterned graphed papers designed by Katie Pertiet (http://www.designerdigitals.com).

I gathered a bunch of photos of myself and to play around with the photos a little I used actions and textures designed by Michelle Black (http://www.thephotoprofessional.com). I then took the template and added photos and patterned paper and printed the pages in a small format, onto photo paper. I then added stickers, rub ons and journaling. To assemble the whole album I used ribbons from one of the June add ons and glued them in between the photos and to the album covers.

This was a really fun project to create and I hope I’ll be able to follow my plan and dig into my digital designs a bit more often and create a lot more hybrid projects. I also hope I gave you some inspiration to try it!

I guess it’s for real now…

I’m almost 13 weeks pregnant and some days still can’t believe we are going for baby number 3!   Both kids will be in school full time in the fall, it’s easy to travel with them, it’s easy to do things with them.  We can go out to dinner without food flying all over and children screaming (ok, most of the time).  They can both get themselves dressed (still working on that shoe tying thing) and make their beds.  They can get a bowl of cereal or a snack.  No bottoms need to be wiped.  Life was getting on a smooth footing.

But… I just felt like something was missing and there were all these little frozen embryos sitting in Portland that we just couldn’t decide what we should do with them.  So here we are with #3 on the way and I couldn’t be happier!  According to Alice the baby will be either Thomas or Olivia.  Jack is going for Max; he has no girl name as he is certain it will be a boy.

I’m looking forward to going back to that amazing chaos and maybe even appreciating it even more this time.   I think I’ll be looking at it with a different perspective as I know this WILL be the last and I know that it really does go too quickly.   The kids are looking forward to being a big brother or sister and are old enough to really understand what is going on.  Scott is looking forward to another 4 years of college tuition and possibly another wedding to pay for.

Baby at 11.5 weeks

And don’t forget – if you are in the Northwest, come join us for our warehouse sale this weekend!  For more information email mailbox@cocoadaisy.com

My June projects!

I loved the versatility of this fun kit, Cubicle. The mix of papers & embellishments are reminiscent of office basics of ledger papers, graph patterns, newsprint and red, black and white come together to create this sharp kit with old school appeal.  This kit is loaded with fun new papers from your favourite manufacturers like Basic Grey, Prima, Girls Paperie and 7 Gypsies and the perfect embellishments from Pink Paislee, 7 Gypsies, Tim Holtz and Basic Grey.  And don’t forget the exclusive stamp designed my moi :o )

The vinyl lime green alphas I used on this page are not party of the kit & from American crafts.

The red heart was made from one of the elastic bands included in the kit. I slit down the middle to make it thinner & stapled it into a heart shape for a cute accent.

Have a super Thursday!

July Sneaks!

Having a hard time waiting for more glimpses of the July Cocoa Daisy kit? Are you ready for some sizzling summer colors? I don’t blame you, but I know that some of our international Design team members are just now receiving their kits. Stay tuned, as I’m sure more sneaks will be rolling out shortly. Remember that Cocoa Daisy subscribers get first pick of the add-ons, but they will also be available to the public after the reveal this weekend. Until then, stay cool in this summer heat!
