February Inspiration – Valentine’s Day Treats

By:      comments (1)

Hi everyone,

Valentine’s Day is approaching quickly. How do you celebrate it, if you do? I’ve never been a huge Valentine’s Day person, but several pretty things have recently caught my eye as I’ve browsed through blogs. I thought I’d share some Valentine’s Day loveliness with you all. I’m thinking of layouts that could incorporate some of the themes or ideas in these images. The February kit would be perfect…

I absolutely love the typing on the masking tape here. I will definitely give that a try. (source: design*sponge)

Isn’t this the prettiest alternative to chocolates you’ve ever seen? I love the soft pastels of the arrangement. (source: design*sponge)

The scalloped hearts on these necklaces actually remind me a lot of the scalloped paper hearts in the February kit. And I adore that butterfly pendant. Maybe it will be a Velentine’s Day present to myself!  (source: Feminine Modern)

And finally, here is the card my boyfriend is getting this year. On the inside it says “all yours”. He loves Robocop and I love letterpress, so it seemed perfect. Not too girly and precious. And I really love the line drawing. I keep meaning to try incorporating some drawings onto my layouts. (source: etsy – Huldra Press)

If you’re looking for Valentine’s ideas, check out the design blogs. They’re a great source of inspiration.

Cheers!

CHA Reflections

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a week since we returned from CHA and that now, in a couple of days we’ll be leaving for CKC-Portland!   If you are attending, look for us at the Saturday night crop!  My father-in-law was diagnosed with lung cancer in December and I didn’t feel I could commit us to a booth at CKC  without really knowing what level of help my in-laws would need.  The good news is  that, so far, my father-in-law has tolerated his treatments well.

As you’ve probably heard, there were several prominent trends at CHA.

One was the sewing theme and dress forms:

Here’s a dress form display from Making Memories

And another dress from display from Girls Paperie

Everything ruler was also big (maybe that could be considered part of sewing?)

Like this ruler ribbon from Tim Holtz (love it!):

Or this paper from Cosmo Cricket:

But… the trend that really stood out to me, was all of the banners:

Girls Paperie

Maya Road:

Adornit

Dear Lizzy

Jenni Bowlin

Bottom line — look for lots of banners this spring (and I don’t think you could go wrong with them!).  What trends have you noticed and liked?

At CHA, Cricket was giving away chef’s hats.  I brought mine home for the kids.  My little dress up queen instantly fell in love with it and thought we needed to get baking!

Then it transformed into a dress-up fest — we had a butterfly, a princess, and finally this!  She is such a funny little wonderful thing!
