COCOA DAISY MARCH KIT IS AVAILABLE IN THE STORE!

We are doing things a bit earlier this month and hopefully we’ll soon start having the kits available to all beginning on the 27th of each month (and to subscribers even earlier!).

The March kit “Ozzie & Harriet” is now available in the Cocoa Daisy store!

And I am so in love with the stamp Kim Watson designed for the kit — and it’s a BIG one — over 4″ x 2.5″!   And how cute are the cards Christine designed with them?

We are so fortunate to have the very talented May Flaum as our guest designer this month!  Check out her designs here — she’s created such adorable layouts and project using “Ozzie & Harriet!”

You can see all her designs here.

And here are a few of my favorite design team layouts so far (look for more internationally postings soon!).

March Guest Designer — May Flaum

By:      comments (4)

Since age seven I’ve been sticking my photos to paper and enjoying the process, and I don’t think that will ever change. My name is May Flaum, and I am a person who never expected to work in crafting, and at the same time couldn’t be happier that I am. My life is in Northern California with my husband and two quickly growing daughters. When we’re not talking about a trip to Disneyland or cooking together you might find me crafting about our life’s adventures in my craft space.

 I have been an instructor for Big Picture Scrapbooking since 2007, and I’ve loved every minute of every class I’ve taught there. Currently I’m teaching a class about hybrid scrapbooking (registration closes March 3!) you can check out here- http://www.bigpicturescrapbooking.com/gohybrid.php. I also design for Scarlet Lime, write for www.scrapbookupdate.com, and I am the co-author of Paper + Pixels a book by Memory Makers and frequently update my blog www.mayflaum.wordpress.com with craft projects & adventures. If that doesn’t keep me busy enough I also do some freelance work and you can see me now and then in various scrapbook magazines and idea books too. I feel so blessed to work in this industry I love – and I was thrilled when Tricia asked me to be the March guest here at Cocoa Daisy.

Kits are a passion of mine, and I love all that Tricia packs into hers. The chipboard bits were fun to paint and ink, the ribbons are totally luscious, and the papers were each more yummy than the last. Usually I stick to layouts with kits, but I was inspired to try my hand at a small (5×7) canvas project to hang on the wall, a gift card holder from a Starbucks cup sleeve, and a card to send a friend. I cracked myself up with my “sew + lucky” card – can’t wait to send that one out.

 I had so much fun with this kit – and I was definitely smiling the whole time. Thanks for checking out my projects –

The Winners Are… And more sneak peeks

Jodee  Love the shirt!  I bet you will have new stuff in the March kit. Jenni Bowlin? Hambly? Prima? Not sure, but can’t wait to see it.

Gayle Martin   The t shirt is the best I need one.  This is difficult because there are several lines that feature patterns, fabrics, dress forms-Girls Paperie,Cosmo Cricket, Dear Lizzy, Jenni Bowlin, K and Company, Hambly and Making Memories Vintage.   I love them all  Final guess…….Cosmo Cricket Material Girl, Girls Paperie.

Please email me with your address to receive your prize.

And the good news is — you only need to wait a couple more days to see the entire kit and all the brand new CHA goodies we’ve packed into it!

While we’re at it… would you like a few more sneak peeks?

These are from Ronda…

(Don’t you love the way she used the thickers?)

A sneak from Anita…

 And… these are from our very talented guest designer whose identity will also be revealed shortly!!!

I loved it to pieces! March sneaks!

It was as if I was right there with Tricia at CHA and she asked me what I wanted in the kit. This is the kit I would have put together myself, if I did those kinds of things. :) I have 4 layouts already, and a mini album with 13 pages. It’s got new Jenni bowlin (how I love thee Jenni), Sass Cherry Delicious/Apple Jack, Studio Calico Anthology and even some new Jillibean Soup. How could you go wrong with the brilliant colors and graphic nature of these goodies? Looking for even more March Sneaks? We’ve got a forum for that: Current kit sneaks forum. You can see all the current sneaks floating around from the Daisy divas, and more as soon as they are added. Join us for the Reveal Feb. 27th! Until then!

Julie Fei-Fan Balzer Guest Post

 You can pull together this adorable ornament together in less than 10 minutes!  It makes the perfect embellishment for a beautifully wrapped gift!

Supplies:

* Domino (if you don’t have a domino, try using a block of wood or a few layers of chipboard)

* 2 Scalloped Hearts (one large and one small)**

* Distress Stickles in Fired Brick

www.balzerdesigns.typepad.com

* Red Glimmer Mist (I made my own, but you can use any kind you’d like.)

* Baker’s Twine**

* Red Button**

* Fabri-Tac (or another strong adhesive)

* Blue Ribbon**

* Scrap of Black Felt

* (optional): heat gun, toothpick

The items with a ** are from the February Cocoa Daisy kit.

1. Use Fabri-Tac to adhere the blue ribbon around 3 sides of your domino.

2. Gently fold down the excess ribbon onto the back and front of the domino. Use a toothpick and more adhesive to help you if needed.

Don’t worry about getting excess adhesive on the domino. You can scrape it off.

3. Tie a knot in the ribbon at the top of the domino.

4. Adhere a scrap of black felt over the dotted part of the domino.

This is both for visual appeal and to keep it from knocking into things once we hang it up.

5. Apply Distress Stickles to the small paper heart. Use your finger to spread it around. You can speed up the drying with a heat gun.

6. Spray the large paper heart with Glimmer Mist. Again, you can speed the drying time with a heat gun.

7. Layer the two hearts and the button and stitch them together with the baker’s twine, tying a bow at the front of the button.

8. Adhere this layered heart to the blank side of the domino.

That’s it! Just tie a knot at the ends of the blue ribbon and hang it up for a little Valentine’s Day cheer!
