Tip- Decorative mini book tie

Hello Daisies ! It’s Aida here. It’s almost the end of January and I hope the year has started off positively for you !

I love making small mini-books as they make wonderful gifts with their perfect size fitting in the palms of your hands. The one thing I DON’T like are using plain ‘ole metal jump rings to hold the covers and pages together. Surely, I thought, there must be other more decorative ways to tie a book together ? I wanted a way that is quick and easy, yet can be made different for each book by just switching the elements or products. While I love ribbons, I am not a scrapper who ties pretty bows well !! So …… the steps you will see below is fr a simple and interesting way to secure your mini-book pages.

This is a 6 X 6 mini album made with chipboard covers decorated with Imaginisce’s patterned paper and accents.

Here are the steps !

Step 1)  Very important – make sure you punch holes in the top left hand corner of the covers and all the pages.

Step 2) Punch out a scallop circle in cardstock, then a plain circle for the center, glue them together.

Step 3) Put in a large eyelet into the center of the circles.

Step 4) Glue the circle to the corner of the book cover making sure the eyelet is lined up with the hole you have punched into the cover earlier

Step 5) Thread the ribbons through all the covers and the pages

Step 6) About 1.5 inches from the edge of the book, secure the ribbon with a pin-backed brad OR a decorative safety pin.

Step 7) Decorate the ends of the ribbons with more scalloped circle punch outs. You can add a brad in the center, buttons, puffy stickers or flowers, a small chipboard alphabet or number.

I hope you found this tip useful. It’s easy, and you can make it different for each mini book you make. Happy scrapping !!!
