Ali EdwardsAn advocate for not making things more complicated than they need to be & embracing imperfection, Ali shares cool concepts, design, and project ideas in her idea books: A Designer’s Eye for Scrapbooking, A Designer’s Eye for Scrapbooking with Patterned Paper, Life Artist, and Sharing Your Story: Recording Life’s Details with Mini Books.

You can also find Ali’s monthly column in Creating Keepsakes magazine: Studio A (see the archives here).

“I started scrapbooking in 2002 as a way to organize all the stuff I collected after the birth of my son. It has become so much more than an organizational process for me – it has let me find my own personal passion and voice. It has become all about the process of capturing life and creating art.”

Read a post about why she scrapbooks here.

Ali licenses her designs with two leading creative companies to create products for both digital scrapbookers (Designer Digitals) and paper crafters (stamps for Technique Tuesday).

Ali lives in Eugene, Oregon. She enjoys travel, reading, politics from the sidelines, and spending time with her husband and two children.

Awesome was August…

Although we’re coming to the end of the month, we’re still enjoying the August Cocoa Daisy Kit. I only received mine early last week and wanted to share these layouts created with the yummy goodies.

Just breathe: Sometimes I need to remind myself to do this..

LOMeBreathe

Happy Birthday layout: I love making smaller sized images (I use Adobe InDesign to plan the images before printing at home). And combining them with some larger images to tell the full story. It always results in a fun layout with a deeper glimpse into the images that help tell my story. LOHappybirthday

Other stories that can use this technique include: vacation pics, day trips, summaries of a school year, and even your favourite pics for the month.

Fun Sliding: I fell in love with these stripes when I saw them.. so much fun. So bright and happy. So this is my Fun Sliding page combining a few patterned papers from the main kit. Not an ounce of the plain cardstock to be seen.. The orange panel is from the plain side of the American Crafts Patterned Paper. The Fun scalloped edges are also repeated throughout.

Have Bike Will Travel: Circles! The fun and colorful circles are fun elements to repeat on the page. I used a pinhead, dipped in Chocolate Paint (from one of the Add-Ons) to produce the dots you see on the pink panel and on the title panel. Also dotted around one of the photos to draw the eye to it.

August was so much fun to play with.. and another one of those kits that keep on giving!! Can’t play with it enough…
Hope to see your August creations in the Cocoa Daisy gallery too!

xoxo,
Sue.
