I thought I was off to such a good start this morning. I got up a bit early, did yoga (ok, so it was only for 20 minutes, but it was at least something!), paid bills, made sure Alice brought in thank you notes with her for the kids that came to her party on Saturday, and had the kitchen spotless. I was going to straighten my hair, take the dog for a walk as it was sunny after too many days in a row of rain, and get down to a good morning of work.
Thanks when I got the call from Alice’s school. I had missed a teacher conference and Alice was supposed to bring snack today (ummm… getting the snack calendar out before the beginning of the month would help!). So I ran out of the house with hair wavy on one side and straight on the other, hit the grocery store and got to her class in time for snack.
Sooo…. no walk with the dog and missed out on an early start to the work day. I guess the gods were just trying to remind me whose life I was really living and mine is a life with a kink or two in the road.
Here’s a few pictures from Alice’s birthday party on Saturday. I’m still trying to figure out where the last four years went!
I love how she sticks out that tongue to concentrate! (An inherited trait — Once her grandfather, while parachuting, was so intently concentrating — with the tongue hanging out — that he bit off the tip of his tongue! YUCK!)
And this was yesterday, Jack has really become quite the little reader and now loves to read to Alice. It’s so sweet to see them together like that.
