I just read all the comments again from my last post — and I was definitely tearing up. Thank you for the reminder of just how generous and selfless we humans can be! And one LORI HUDSON will be receiving a very special thank you in the form of a couple Christmas kits!
Here’s what Lori had to say:
I guess this is no longer anonymous if I am telling you. But the people I work with don’t read this blog, so I think I am safe. Every year my boss gives each employee under her a $100 bill for Christmas. Each year I pass it on to someone else. I feel like it is an unexpected gift to me, so I want to give an unexpected gift to someone else. Last year I left in the beat up car of a woman who could only afford to put $10 of gas in her car. The year before, I mailed it without a return address to a friend whose daughter and grandson just moved in with her. Those are just some examples. I am grateful that my boss gives me the means to make someone else happy.
And don’t miss out on your chance to open your hearts and be rewarded for it! Remember our Making A Difference Food Drive is running through the 20th and we have so many incredible prizes to give away! You can find out more about the food drive here. So far we’ve 1499 items of food have been donated through the food drive. Keep up the good work!!!
Ok, once again I am proving myself to be a lame, lame blogger. It seems that circumstances are conspiring to keep me from having a moment of free time. And I haven’t even thought about Christmas yet — I’m just in denial that it’s next week! Last week our trauma was Daisy eating a glass ornament. That was good for several hours at a vet’s office waiting to be squeezed in (this was during Alice’s nap time — and a tired 3 yr old with nothing to do at a vet’s office for several hours is not quite the ideal way to spend an afternoon.) After all of that, the vet squeezed her tummy, said she didn’t seem tender, sent me home and told me to keep an eye on her and whatever left her body. Fortunately she seems to be fine and is enjoying hanging out in her favorite spot still — the stairs. She is a funny little pup…

This week the excitement was snow. Well, rather it was exciting for about the first hour. We don’t get much snow in our part of Oregon nor do we get very cold temperatures. Apparently this week Mother Nature missed those facts as we’ve had quite a bit of snow (enough that we couldn’t get down from our hill for almost 2 days and the UPS man couldn’t make it up!) and have barely gotten above freezing. The kids had a blast playing in the snow. But, we are now 3 for 3 snow days this week and it’s definitely looking like tomorrow and Friday will be snow days as well! This not only makes it hard to get work work done, but almost impossible to get any Christmas prep done! I had envisioned my home as a cozy haven of merry holiday music, festive decorations and scents of freshly baked cookies. We have a long way to go to get there in a few short days!
But, we have gotten into the holiday spirit all the same.
We went to the local production of the Nutcracker with some friends. Wendy who works with me, her sister-in-law just finished chemo for breast cancer a few months ago and at 45 decided to return to ballet. So she was one of the dancers in the production. I was so inspired by her!

And we got our Christmas tree

And the kids donned reindeer masks
And they went sledding

And we decorated the outside of the house

And now we just need to finish shopping, write Christmas cards, wrap all the presents, mail presents and finish getting the house ready for my Scott’s parents arrival on Sunday.
